He is not perfect, he has gotten beaten on some plays. But his ability to cause turnovers and find the ball is just incredible.

Crawford is the most appropriate name for him. He's ND's equivalent of the Crow. Sometimes has some lulls but makes the plays when we need them.

Wonder if he is a guy who would be eligible for a 6th year when the time comes. He missed the first two seasons with injury. At the least he should be with us for 2 more seasons

Remember when Diaco didn't want him?

How about these numbers for Crawford. He's played 5.5 games so far at ND and:

Three interceptions

Two fumble recoveries

Forced Fumble

Five passes defensed

Returned a blocked PAT 80 yards for a two point conversion

BK mentioned Crawford was not a unanimous “take” when they recruited him. Noted he wanted him.

@ Diaco.

Lol.

From und.com

Notre Dame junior CB Shaun Crawford has played in basically five and a half games during his collegiate career. He missed his entire freshman season (2015) with a torn ACL and then suffered a torn achilles in the first quarter of the second game of his sophomore season (2016). In that limited time he has:

Returned a blocked PAT for a two-point conversion to tie Texas, 37-37, with just over three minutes remaining
Three interceptions
Two fumble recoveries
A forced fumble at the goal line to negate a certain touchdown
Five passes defended

And that is why Diaco is

1) a failed HC
2) failing the crap out of being a DC in Nebraska

I am convinced the 2012 success had nothing to do with Bob and all about having a defense that had several pro players on it

Um...Diaco was gone when Crawford was recruited. Left in 2013. BVG was the DC during the recruitment

Erroneous. Diaco was still DC when Crawford first visited ND July 2013. Diaco didn't become HC at UConn till December of that year. Crawford then got an offer two months later.

I think I have a new favorite 'current' player....

Kind of unfair. It's his first year there. Give him a couple years, if Riley has a couple years as head coach, and he'll have them playing well. He's a good defensive coordinator. How quickly people forget or just outright alter history.

Knock on wood, but if Crawford continues playing the way he does, what are the chances he goes pro?

The problem for Diaco is he is too picky with the measurements he wants, and thus can miss out on just plain good football players. Also, he, with all that talent we had in 2012, ran a super vanilla defense. So much so, that Alabama knew everything we were doing.*

*Granted, we know Alabama is great at dissecting an opponent when given time.

I'd say zero or very close to zero. He's been hurt the last two years with significant injuries and is just now starting to get more and more playing time. With his injury history I can't see him being drafted in a round that makes any sense at all for him to leave. I'd bet he's more likely to be here 6 years (he should be able to apply for an extra year because of his two injuries) than he is to leave after this year. He very well may leave after next year if he gets his degree but I'd be amazed if he does this year.
