Really went from worst to best situation. Hate the Pack but they know how to QB up there on the tundra. I think they like their chances to make DK heir apparent.

Just looked it up - didn't realize Aaron Rodgers is only 34. Could be a Brett Favre situation in 3 years if DeShone develops nicely?

All three of the Green Bay Packers quarterbacks played well in the team’s first preseason game.

Starter Brett Hundley finished 9-of-14 for 108 yards, one touchdown and one interception. DeShone Kizer, who the Packers acquired from the Browns, was 9-of-18 for 134 yards. He didn’t throw a touchdown or a pick. Tim Boyle, the undrafted guy, went 7-of-15 for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

That would seem like an all-around good night for all three guys, right?

No. Not according to coach Mike McCarthy.

Fat Mike says Kizer and Boyle still have a lot of work to do.

“Fundamentally, definitely, DeShone and Tim, they have a long ways to go,” McCarthy said. “That’s just where they are. DeShone, this footwork is totally (different). He’s from the other family (offensive style). So, he’s done a really good job since he’s been here.

“So, he’ll get another opportunity. It’s just like anything and it’s something we talk about as a quarterback room, you work the fundamentals, you grind on them all week and when you get to the competitive drills, you go play football. I don’t want a guy thinking about his footwork in the middle of a game or his ball mechanics.”

Well, footwork and ball mechanics. Maybe those are the buzzwords of training camp this year.

Because surely you remember pad level.

Congrats to DeShone on earning the #2 spot. What an ideal situation for him learning from one of the best.

Pretty pumped about this news, for Deshone and my Pack. His ceiling is way more valuable than Hundley's knowledge of the offense. Last year's audition was a train wreck for Hundley's chances of being the heir apparent to Rodgers.

Between the 20s and without pressure he is good. When he has unexpected pressure or just the pressure of being near an endzone he falls apart. That isn't good but is it an improvement because last year he looked bad everywhere. I'm confident that with more time in the GB system he can develop into at least an average QB, but being forced in there week one was once again too soon, just like last year.

He was pretty disappointing last night IMO, he needs to be more cognizant of the pass rush and when to get rid of the ball. He showed decent pocket presence on a few passes, hanging in there and delivering accurate throws, but he inexplicably moved to the right in a clean pocket right into Mack on the strip fumble in the redzone, and from there on he didn't handle the pocket well at all and looked like the Browns QB we all knew and loved last year.

Is there a chance they waive him and keep Manny Wilkins from ASU to save money? That'd be weird, I think I saw some blurb that Wilkins is staying at DK's place and that they've been good friends since Elite 11 or some QB Camp they attended.

I havne't heard anything about Manny Wilkins. He as played sparingly but Kizer supposedly has had a good training camp. Just not transfering tot he field in these preseason games which is concerning. Boyle played really well last night. QBR 114, FWIW.

Agree, price is always a consideration as well as talent level. Obviously he didn't make the expected improvements the Packers were hoping for, and he is now one of 4 on Raiders roster that will be trimmed to no more than three QBs.

Any idea what his salary is? And when waived and then picked up by another team, does that salary transfer?
