Not disagreeing with you whatsoever, just pointing out that for a NAIA school, they have a damn good program, but you are correct about UK being horrendous......

I played NAIA baseball in Ft. Wayne and we whooped up on "D1" schools all the time. Maybe not apples to apples being different sports but point is the good NAIA programs, such as St. Francis football, do attract pretty good talent.

I think, could be wrong, St. Francis may have won the NAIA NC during my time in Ft. Wayne. I know Marian out of Indy won it last year, wonder how that team would stack up against a poor SEC school?

those St Francis teams never won the championship always lost. the Marion team would def. beat d1 schools but I'm not so sure about the bottom of the sec.

They would get crushed by a SEC team, or any other team from a major conference. An incredibly talented NAIA team may have skill players that can compete but the talent disparity on the line, both offense and defense, is too much to overcome.

Sounds like a big error on Tennessee's part. I like the way ND is recruiting him, but wish he said it had more of an impact.

Marion lost their head coach. He's now the coach at Walsh University which was NAIA but made the move to NCAA D-II.

Anyone able to read the update on II?

Here's the interview from the update. Nothing much, but worth a listen.

EDIT: After watching this, I think he would choose Bama if he had to decide right now.

Remains to be seen I guess. Still, can't argue with UT's recent success in recruiting. They have done a good job even if they may have missed on Elam.

Yes. that was worth a listen. The young man seems pretty "cool" about the big rush that everyone's putting on him. I didn't think that he sounded overly hyped about any one team. He was wowed by meeting Saban, but I didn't necessarily read that as anything but what any youngster would be upon meeting the boss of college football. There was a different sort of wow when he tried to articulate how the Notre Dame atmosphere hit him --- he was definitely intrigued by the uniqueness of the place. I think that there's a chance here.

Really? I certainly didn't get that vibe.

Kentucky Sports Radio houses just the worst type of Kentucky fans... that blog was ALL about UK basketball until Stoops started recruiting well. Now they're all football experts.

I root for Kentucky football simply for home-state interests (can't do it for basketball, I hate Calipari). It amazes me that the people commenting on Ky Sports Radio are worse than the "average" UK fan, because the "average" fans are unbearable.

Living in Kentucky is hell during basketball season. I can only imagine what it would be like if they were decent at football as well.

Definitely NOT directing this at you. But, UK football fans don't exist as a general statement. They all root for UK basketball but find a different team to root for when it comes to football. One of my many problems with UK fans. It is funny how they think Stoops will turn around their tire fire of a program.

"Die hard" USC fans during football season,... 'die hard' UCLA fans come Basketball season...

never could understand that one.

My biggest issue with UK fans right here. Maybe it's just because I live in Kentucky, but they are leaders when it comes to hyping "SEC baby national champs!"

I try to explain to my friends that are UK fans that if they actually cared about football, they wouldn't have such vested interests in rooting for schools that UK plays against regularly.

When my friends try to talk UK football with me, they change the subject because they realize they can't make crap up with someone who actually knows the program. It was nice rooting for UK football back in 2007 when they had Andre Woodson and Stevie Johnson and beat #1 LSU in OT. It was even kind of nice again during the Randal Cobb years. I would like to see Stoops make them respectable again, but it almost wouldn't be worth it to deal with the "fans."

They do have a good program. Since they started playing football, I think they are the winningest college football program in Indiana.

It's true. I for one have a hard time caring much about ND basketball.
But I don't go around rooting for Syracuse or UConn (or now Duke or UNC) to win titles either just to bask in their reflective conference-wide glory.

I root for ND sports and IU sports personally, I watch IU football every week (when it is on TV). But you are right, a lot of people in/from Indiana root for ND football and IU basketball. The good thing though is that those teams are not rivals in any big way. They play each other like once every 3 years in the Indiana Classic basketball tournament (Purdue and Butler are the other teams present) and that is a hard game to watch, I am just hoping no one gets hurt. :)

It kind of bothers me when recruits put out a list and it's not in alphabetical order. They say "in no particular order", but I can't help but analyze the order in which they list the teams. Gets me every time.

In the interview he talked about them in this order: UK, Bama, ND, OSU, UT, UofL, which is about what I would have put them.

Plans to see UofL @ UK, Bama @ UK, LSU @ Bama, and USC @ ND as of right now.

I agree with that, I think we are running neck and neck with Bama for 2nd and them currently a slight lead.

Maybe he just "saves the best for last".

My wishful thinking anyway.
