I have been told from a reliable source "there are no current plans" for a new video board. String me up for not saying more I don't care. That's what I know.

I asked that you not mention this on the board.... Damn it!!!!!!!!!!

Jimmymac and JadeBrecks were right on the money....

In Swarbrick's NBC presser he stated there were going to be no field turf this year and there are no imminent plans to put in a video board.

To me, there is a difference between being old school and being outdated: winning.

If we continue to win, the NOT having a jumbotron and having natural grass will be considered pretty cool. On other hand, if we start losing again, we'll have to use gimmicks to recruit and keep up with the Joneses.

Can someone tell me the all out importance of a big tv at the stadium. Is this only for entertainment purposes or is there a productive reason for the teams performance. . .

The best I've got is that jumbotrons help get the fans really focused about bad calls. They show the bad call 100 times in slow motion, everyone hisses and curses... Next thing you know, the refs are trying to atone for their sins!

I think a crop duster that sprays copious amounts of whiskey over the crowd at halftime should cure all the issues with cheering and not being aggressive enough as fans.

Nah just a #NotB1GEnough hashtag on the field to stick to Delaney

I would support this so hard. I would give all of my non-existent money for just one game. Can you imagine how pissed the entire B1G would be? Twitter would f*cking explode. I need to go lay down.

But that's not a tradition! We can't allow such nonsense!

Way off topic, but I think it's interesting...

You'll never see this happen in Major League baseball. A close play at first base or any other close call where the home team would hope to shame an umpire with a video replay will never make its way onto an MLB video board. It's specifically prohibited in the MLB umpires' collective bargaining agreement. The MLB umps are one of the most sneakily powerful unions in sports.

Kelly confirmed that Notre Dame Stadium has been re-sodded “from goal-line to goal-line, from number to number” after the field was in what he termed “poor, poor condition” to start 2013.

“I've made it pretty clear what I want for a surface,” Kelly said, a not-so-subtle allusion to FieldTurf. “That has not come to fruition at this point. We're going to put the grass down and we're hopeful that's going to get us through the season.”

It's only a matter of time folks.

Artificial field turf is going to happen which is fine by me. A jumbotron is a different story, i took my brother in law to his first ND game last year ( not a ND fan) and he absolutely was shocked by the history and lack of technology as well as advertisements in the stadium. At one point he looked at me and said " its like we stepped back in time". No bs that's what he said, He absolutely loved everything about the stadium experience and said he would not change a thing. I just liked hearing that perspective from a guy who has no dog in this fight

The field turf should have happened ten years ago. If they grounds crew hasn't been able to have the field worth a crap for years. Either institute a "turf and greenhouse management" major or go field turf. Don't see us going ND A&M anytime soon.

Plus, if you athletically more gifted than a vast majority of your opponents, why would you want a sloppy surface adding a wild card to game day?

Curious as to why it's taking ND so long to put in turf. It can't be solely on tradition. I'm sure the money's there, but why would they sit on their *** when it's something that could potentially help the team?

Because according to the "Old Guard", it's tradition to prevent fans from watching replays in the stadium on a Jumbo-tron, preventing them from being distracted after the game so they can focus solely on the team singing the Alma Mater on a ****** natural field that looks like Charles Barkley spent 4 hours hitting Pitching Wedges off it.

Any changes to this process is sacrilegious.

(I kid, I kid, but only slightly....)

I want to see a giant *** Jumbo-tron like the one at say The Jake where the Indians play with writing over it (Like in many parks like Cleveland) that reads "The University of College Football in America"...

:)

I wish they'd install field turf tomorrow. Given our weather, there is no reason to rely on natural grass when a better alternative exists.

I would like 4 medium sized video boards that are strictly used for replays and football related content.

This. No Ads. Just show replays and the highlights in pre-game and commercial breaks.

You know it is going to be non-stop infomercials on the heroic charity of ND and its professors. Fr. Jenkins: "Did we dream big enough?" (implicit answer: yes!).

I am fine with pump-up videos. I am even fine with some ads, as long as they incorporate ND. Adidas does a good job of this: I like to see someone in an ND football uniform doing something awesome in a mix of other sports superstars.

What I don't want is it to become a distraction from the game and the band. Do we really need to watch TV in the stadium? Answer: no.

why cant we have grass? Wouldnt that be a great thing for a home field advantage? Not only would teams dread coming to play at ND because its hard to win but they would have to deal with the grass and maybe the mud if it rains and what not. Jumbotron is cool in my book but I want to keep the grass.
Well as it is right now the "grass" isn't really in our favor because our overall team speed is average and the last thing we need is to get a surface that expose's that.

I personally liked us playing on the turf at At&t stadium. I do believe it would good for our team to have. They can make it look the same as it does now so the traditionalist don't get the panties in a wad.

Speaking of that, anyone else notice that it seemed like there was a lot of guys slipping on that turf? It just struck me as an Abby Normal amount of slippage.

The ushers were a little more tolerant from my experience. The main issue stems from the type of fans (some old, some young) who would prefer to just sit and watch rather than cheer. It still blows my mind that a fellow "fan" would ask me to sit down during a game.

Just tell the "fan" to talk to the usher if he's got a problem. ND has a policy that encourages standing, not sitting.
