When <a href="https://twitter.com/ShippersUnbound?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@ShippersUnbound</a> and I interviewed Donald Trump in 2019, we became fascinated by what the little red button did. Eventually Trump pressed it, and a butler swiftly brought in a Diet Coke on a silver platter. It's gone now. <a href="https://t.co/rFzhPaHYjk">pic.twitter.com/rFzhPaHYjk</a></p>— Tom Newton Dunn (@tnewtondunn) <a href="https://twitter.com/tnewtondunn/status/1352284365854806017?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 21, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

RIP Magic Coke Button

Fake news. It's been there in pictures during Obama and GW's tenures:

Supposedly you can still see the brown cable to it going behind Biden's phone. The likely reality is it's just a call box for staff to bring the President whatever their preferred beverage is or other services. Of course Twitter is trending with "Diet Coke Button" as people are expressing their faux outrage. Twitter is such a cesspool.

One thing that I would think would be bipartisan in nature would be comprehensive campaign finance reform to deal with the insanity that was unleashed due to the Citizens United Ruling.

Bro calm down. That could potentially help us, not career politicans.

Fresca and a small bowl of sour patch kids is the most "weird President" thing I can come up with that I would enjoy.

My company-appropriate choice would be "Mountain Dew Zero and Peanut M&M's"

The protein from the peanuts makes it a healthy afternoon snack.

Schumer made this speech look really hard. If your Senate hearing lasts longer than 4 hours, call a physician.

Also- it's a tragedy Trump can't tweet his thoughts on this gaffe. It would surely be a classic.

They need to let this go and move on. Even if he is convicted, he won't go to jail. He'll be out on house arrest, which probably means he spends his time playing golf everyday.

IDK about everyone else but I dont take the attempted overthrow of our government lightly. Anyone and everyone who contributed to this must be held to account to the extent possible under law. I personally hope they let an independent DOJ follow this to a legally justifiable conclusion and hold all to account.

There is also the thing about this dude getting the PDB and intel briefings. There is no way he should be allowed to have that info. He is an intelligence liability at best. At worst he could profit off the intel.

"Letting this go" is inadvisable

I dont think its important, I think it'd be symbolic more than anything. My understanding is that it is not settled that it could necessarily prevent him from running again anyway.. Constitutional law is whatever 5 guys/gals decide it is.

I dont think he will be running again regardless, his last couple months burned a lot of bridges in the GOP and he needs the GOP (the fundraising, campaigning infrastructure, etc) in order to make that possible.

I am looking forward to his presidential library. He needs to make it obnoxious. I want a McDonald's, KFC, whatever his favorite fast food places are in there. Water fountains with Diet Coke. Put a casino inside with them fun modern slot machines that are super interactive and throw it up in Atlantic City or something to make it even more absurd.

Trump themed slot machines that insult you when you lose, give you big league compliments when you win...my God. Think about it fellas.

He's not getting nominated let alone getting elected again. He may try to start his own party, but he won't pull enough from the Republican party to be a serious threat.

Did you ever hear me support or condone the rioting or say those folks shouldn't go to jail? I support holding them accountable, but I'm not talking about the rioters themselves.

I don't agree with what Trump did. So you go through with it and he's found guilty. Then what have you accomplished? Something for the record books, millions of dollars pissed away and you have a warm fuzzy feeling? Whether you like it or not, he's not going to jail. And if they fine him, he'll probably die before he pays any fines.

I guess you let the wife or girlfriend do the shopping since you can't tell the difference between apples and oranges.

Don't live with the GF, wouldn't trust her to shop for me.

Following the "investigate all election fraud allegations" line of thinking, wouldn't you agree you would like to know if members of congress lead organizers through to give them a layout or if there was a back channel from DJT to lead an insurrection?

I guess I am still waiting for a smoking gun to connect dots between Trump and an attempted overthrow of government. I am actually still waiting for a smoking gun to point at saying there was an actual attemtp to overthrow our government. It looked like a directionless mob that had no clue what to when they finally did breach the capitol.

I guess you never will. It’s very clear what occurred. I watched his speech. I watched Juniors speech. I watched Guilliani. I watched him lie from November to Jan 6 and I watched all his followers buy in and threaten violence. Then he whipped them up to a frenzy and sent them marching saying he would March with them. He didn’t of course because he had no intention of leading them to the Capitol.
There is tons of evidence it was coordinated by the way. You don’t have to like it but it’s there. I don’t know what it would take to convince you but from what I have seen it was a coup attempt to stop the election certification and an attempt to capture the line of succession.

Would you mind sharing evidence of coordination and the like?

You seem pretty confident, and I haven't dove deep into any of it.

All you need to do is google insurrection coordination.

There is also a well founded concern that GOP representatives led tours of several people involved in the insurrection days before.

Videos from the day of the act show people directing groups to specific places. Rioters located Clyburns third floor work space which was unmarked and hard to find and would not be stumbled upon by chance. They went there and they knew how to get there.
Here is something showing TrumpsnPAC funding for the Event

I’m not doing everyone’s research for them though.
