so what kind of upgrades will happen to the gug and the locker room? surprised they would touch the locker room

I think the Adidas pants were too yellow. But yes. same basic thought. If my name was Kelly, I'd have switched it to Kelly Green's and cited the Leahy era as to why i was doing it.

Stepp takes stock of changes - Notre Dame - Scout


Not sure exactly what will happen obviously but Markese Stepp is quoted as saying the Gug will almost double in size with its expansion. I'm guessing the recruits were all given a look at what the changes will entail.

There's this belief that the green jerseys are bad luck, and I can see the logic backing it up. The biggest games over the last 15 years in the green jerseys (BC in '02, USC in '05, USC in '07) were all losses. The only time ND has done well in green was against crappy teams like Army in '06 and '10, and Maryland in '11.

That being said, you can use the same logic to define ND's resume over the last 20 years regardless of jersey color.

Not including Shamrock Series games, probably my least favorite jersey for Notre Dame.

The forest green color had no historical tie for the school and was so dark that they're not immediately recognizable as different from navy blue. Although, this was an era for Adidas when they were a few more darker pantones from outfitting the Irish in black jerseys.

Hate the gold numbers especially. One simple rule for the uniforms is not too use too much gold. Plus, this was the Adidas era of 14 foot tall numbers which makes the gold even more present.

We should always wear kelly green.

Not only am I objectively right from an aesthetic, historical, and design perspective but I'll take it a step further. The 2002 BC green uniforms are astonishingly underrated. Those are, in combination with an inverted version of the 2011 Michigan uniforms, the idealized version of a modern green Notre Dame uniform.

Problem is, most let their fandom get in the way of great uniform design and often can't separate the two. The enlightened connoisseurs don't have that problem. :yes:

There is quite a bit going on with the north end of the stadium when you think about it.
  • Separate visitor tunnel in the NE corner.
  • Redone ND tunnel.
  • Apparently the whole area is being redone, part of the original locker room will be restored, and it will have an addition. The whole thing is supposed to be fabulous.
  • In addition, there will be a technically advanced media room for interviews, that whole bunches of people are giving the thumbs up.
As far as the Gug, in the next couple of years it will be 'Gug X 10!' I will try to get more specific information, but it is hard to do, without compromising sources or misinterpreting data, at this time. But the Gug is going to be unbelievable. That's one thing everyone agrees upon.

Yesterday's ISD Intel had a little info on the facility upgrades from some sources/recruits/parents. New/revamped stadium locker rooms, new/expanded weight room in the Gug, the roof/ceiling of I'm assuming the Loftus Center will be higher which will allow indoor kicking and special teams work. The recruits and their families are all very impressed with what they've seen in the plans and renderings.

Is there a reason we can't just do a simple blackout alt uniform with gold trim/lettering? You could even use a 'kelly green' for the highlighting around the gold.

The helmet could remain gold (and if you need to be extra cute, run a single black stripe down the middle). The jerseys could have cutesy little shamrocks leprechauns but otherwise keep it fuck!ng simple.

I guarantee if they put out a jersey like that, it'll be come an all-time favorite and I would buy one instantly.
