regardless of score, i wont put any numbers to it...I would be happy to see the offense and defense execute well, and of course, a win.

I want to see a gameplan work; I want to see defensive stops, and offensive drives that end in scores(or believe it or not, punts!). Careless turnovers would be a bad, bad* omen. If ND truly has the more talent than Navy, then they should be able to execute their gameplan, and the score will be in their favor.

I don't care as long as its an Irish win. Obviously I do not want the game to be close at all. I want Notre Dame to control the entire game. When you have a team like the Irish and your a fan all you hope is that when you have some young guys on offense, they don't turn it over numerous times. This years team may not score as many points but the defense might be twice as good.

Guys are drinking to much kool aid.

I don't know why it is so crazy to think that we can put up similar numbers to last year on a Navy team that has regressed from last season and is plagued by injuries.

Maybe you should take a sip of this delicious green beverage and think about that for a moment...

...

Besides from reading this board over the past year I thought a Rees benching was supposed to be good for an automatic 50 points, even if Heggie started.

Early tonight I actually thought Loomis's gloom and doom dreadful secret was going to be a scoop that Kelly had lifted THE Suspension "for time served" and Tommy was to be announced as Starter tomorrow. IE would race NDN to a mutual meltdown.

well, to be honest, I expect a dumb turnover or two against Navy, especially at the QB position. Lets face, it will be the QB's first start at the collegiate level. However, that doesnt mean the QB is going to have a bad game. If Golson has an INT and fumble against Navy, but throws for 2-3 TDs, runs for 1TD, and we win like 50-7; are we going to call for Golson to be benched? No

Navy and Purdue are perfect games for a new QB. They can make some mistakes and learn from them without costing us the game. Then they will be ready and more experienced for MSU and scUM!

Off-topic, but is it true that the Irish consider our sh!tty domestic macro-brewed beer to be premium stuff over there? Say it ain't so.

Unfortunately it is so. However, there has been a huge movement towards micro-breweries and craft brewing over the past few years.....it turns out that we're very good at it! :D There is a lot of Porters and Ale's being brewed here at the moment. The Ale's are modelled on American ale's as English ale's are awful. I don't know the Dublin scene very well, but I'm told that The Porterhouse would be a good calling point. If it were Cork, you wouldn't be stuck far entire bars dedicated to craft. I just hope Dublin has had the same movement as we have had. I don't get out there enough to find out.

I can't read the article here at work but if it says Navy +17 that means they are a 17 point underdog.

FWIW gotta be a mistake. Seeing this from another gambling line source:
9:00 157 NOTREDAME -16.5 -16.5
158 NAVY

Navy is the dog as they should be.

I know this is the Navy thread, but I think people are already underestimating Purdue. It's true that we don't know if they can put it all together, but they have the athletes to compete with a lot of teams if they can stay healthy. Depth is Purdue's big concern.

So we know what the jersey looks like for the Miami game, recruiting seems pretty slow, and we are looking good in practice. So lets talk about our first game of the season, it is 2 weeks away!!

What are the keys to the game?
Key mathcups?
Player of the game?
Predictions?

Keys: As always when playing Navy I see the key being to stop the Navy run. although I think the new QB for Navy does like to pass a little more than their past QBs. They have some WR problems so that might not be a big issue for us as it will for their future opponents.

Matchups: our D-line versus there O-Line and our O-line versus their D-Line. Games are won in the trenches.

Player of the Game: I am going to go with C wood. I think he could have a monster game running.

Predictions: ND 49 - Navy 10. Go Irish!!

I will be nervous every game this year. I always am and I always will be

There hasn't been any reason to say that we shouldn't be. That's why I'm always amazed at any ND fan talking about "automatic wins". I've been trained for 22 years to be terrified for all four quarters, no matter how big our lead is.

The same thing was being said about South Florida last year, and Navy several of the past years. You seem to think almost every single opponent is nothing to be worried about, which shows you either haven't been paying too close attention the past decade or are a blind homer. There is a lonnnnng list of teams we shouldn't have been worried about that beat us...

All 3 players who failed the PRT have since passed. Turner is expected to play in Ireland (6'4", 225 leading receiver).

They have a lot of work to do in two weeks. I like Bennett Jackson going up against Turner

I dont try and predict bad days or fluke plays like some on here try to do. We are 20 points better than Navy...

Thanks for the intel. Turner had 21.4 yds/catch last year.

Steele picked Navy as one of his Most Improved Teams for '12. He also sees them bowling again this year. He's got them with the 116th Toughest Schedule. He projects them to have the #5 Rushing Offense but only the #123 Passing Offense out of 124.
