I want Coach to play the whole "first" team (except Claypool) the whole first half (including the normal rotations), and spend the entire time concentrating on what we AREN'T yet doing well. That includes lots of running and lots of Book throwing quick across the middle. SMOOTH THE DAMM OFFENSE OUT!!! The parts we actually want to use.
I agree, I just hope they don't overthink it, a la Ball St last year when they clearly told Wimbush to ignore his biggest strength by not scrambling, and seemingly forcing him to stay behind the LOS and throw the ball downfield. I get it, you were trying to build the kid's confidence up throwing the ball against an inferior opponent, but to me this is the biggest reason BSU hung around.
For Book, I just want to see him have a much better pocket presence and go through his progressions. He seems to be looking at his primary target, and then bailing.
If BVG plans on bringing pressure to make him uncomfortable, hope to see Book poised and hit Kmet & Tremble on quick dumps &/or seam routes, and want to see the RBs/OL execute screen plays better to counter attack those blitzes.
