book and dex should kill it vs base D. they have a lot of sacks and INTs, true... but I think Book's quick release will nullify that threat. and i just don't see Book throwing a lot of INTs if BK calls what works. if he is calling pass plays to the middle left again, i'll lose my shit. teams have put up a lot of points on them. if our D can contain Dungey's legs, and rush him with base 4, we have zero to worry about. STs worries me... shocker.

Special Teams gives me the shits this year.

Hey friends. Just keep worrying. Look at everything with the glass half empty type things. When I come to the place I used to think was negatively abstract. I just need to feel as tho you care about me and my simple life as a fan of me..... . BTW. I am a Douchebag and I say weird things sometimes.

Tried to rep you but a dialog box appeared:

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Circa again.

A puzzling message as I had purchased Unlimited Reps. So I checked my User CP and the only time I repped Circa in 2018 was a one time neg rep in a game day thread. Apparently I have to neg rep some others before I can send Circa some positive rep. I'll be working on it, Circa.

i tried too. the dialog box said

Hey now, I was hoping for more than an abstract. My word of the day that only has about 12 and a half minutes to go.
I'm still trying to buy myself a beer on the lower part of me....

Glad to hear Book is getting the start.

My observations only... in the first three games BW seemed to always look for Boykin. Why not? He's arguably our best receiver. I think most DB's picked up on this tendency.

Book really opened the field of view and included a LOT of different receivers. They didn't fail. Spreads the D around and with the explosion of Dexter, they still need to protect the box.

I think out O is going to be potent against S.

Our D is awesome and will hold a very good S offense. We need an effective pass rush AND we need to fill the box and prevent those aggravating big yard gains up the middle. The latter being frustrating and a bit of a head scratcher over the past several games.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Four man pressure, and reliable pass coverage. We’ve done it all season, so why stop now? Get that and we’ll be fine. We’ll score our points.

Agreed but I hope to see a few more timely blitzes this game. And I wouldn't mind running a single high safety/dropping a S in the box to offset their numbers. Not all game but sprinkled in.

I don't think they can win if we're successful taking the run game away. I'm hoping we can do that otherwise this will be much closer than we hope.

Hopefully Book comes back sharp. The ideal game is one in which we score early and often. Keep the pressure high on Syracuse and see if they start to show signs of pressing.

Yep. I am hoping ND stays in their base defense more than they did against FSU. I felt like FSU's success in the run game was against the nickel defense - I have no stats on that, but that is what it felt like.

they will be in nickel a ton this game, syracuse is going to spread them out and run tempo so get ready for a TON of nickel packages...pretty much this will be our base defense against them

IMO ND needs to stop the Syracuse run game more than stopping the pass. The nickel defense will get gashed by the Syracuse run game. I hope I am wrong, but that is my fear.

ND doesn't have choice. They have to go nickel. Syracuse is going to be lining up 4 wideouts every play. They very rarely use the TE with only 89 yards to their starter. Their WRs are pretty small too.

This game depends upon how healthy Book and Tranquil are.

If truly good-to-go then we win without too much drama.

If not .... a bit of nerves.

Johnson & Riley are.

Custis is 6-5. Harris & Butler are 6-3 and have combined for 40/500

Who will spy Dungey? I think that is the matchup to watch. Stop him from running and the Irish's chances of winning increase dramatically.

I'd like to see Gilman do some blitzes like he did last week give me 5 of those a game

This!! So much of this!!

Alohi is a big time hitter and gets through most of the time. If it isn't a sack or TFL it's "hurry up" big time.

So glad he's Irish!!

Cheers and Go Irish!!

‘Cuse coach is on the Stephen A show right now playing possum. He literally said it’s “possible to beat them, if they help us”.

This team is playing its super bowl tomorrow.

We better come out hungry.

I believe in the Irish front four disrupting the Syracuse offense.
The Irish are a better team than most people think because of that aspect of their game. I believe we could give Bama a tough game.

I agree with part I of your post.

Part II...I think most ND fans would agree that we would love to make the playoff....avoiding Alabama at all costs. I think we could keep it competitive....i.e., under 24 pts, which would probably be the spread of that game give or take a FG.

If that's your idea of a tough game, we are in agreement.
