There have already been quite a few "near misses" that would have made our situation much more comfortable. Off the top of my head:

TCU over TT
Bama over Tennessee
MSU over scUM/Rutgers/IU
OSU over IU
Florida over Tennessee
Okie Light over TT

I'm sure there's a lot more

The high number of undefeateds makes our road a lot tougher. Yes, a bunch of them play each other yet. But even with those games there's a decent shot the winner of us v Stanford is left sitting in fifth. Which is sort of crazy when you think about it.
We'll need more near misses to turn into hits before it's through.

People on ESPN this morning are calling for Bama to be in the top 4 right now!

Somebody explain this to me. Is Bama's SoS better than ours? If not, our loss is significantly better than theirs and the SEC as a whole is down this year in my opinion.

And if ND had beaten Clemson, would those same people be calling for the one loss Alabama to be ranked over the Irish?

Wow. #5's as good as you could hope for. Some teams behind will have a chance to jump but if we take care of business we're in pretty good position.

Wow. I could not have been more wrong. We got all the credit we deserved and then some for our schedule/wins.

Kudos to the committee for not giving the Big 12 credit at this juncture for playing nobodies + being undefeated.
