Their line is like a prius and ours is like a F250 with a power stroke diesel. Both can get you places but one can move shit more efficiently.

Welcome to Irish Envy.

I think the analogy is correct, but the explanation could've used some work.

Let's just say, a Prius isn't going anywhere when you go off-roadin'. Aka. VT's OL sucks ass against a defense with a pulse.

ESPN is playing up the old rivalry in the promos for the game
I know that I'm in the minority. But, having lived in Miami and with my Godfather being an alum of the University of Miami (he's still a Notre Dame fan, which is why he's my Godfather) I'm more hyped for this game than the average Irish or Canes fan that's my age. Don't get me wrong, I still understand that Kelly has lost two big road games for Notre Dame against ACC opponents (FSU and Clemson) and I know I'm setting myself up for disaster, but Miami is not as good as those teams and this Notre Dame team is better than those previous teams. I just hope the fire that exists within me for this game happens to exist within the players and the coaches. I'e said it before and I'll say it again, I hope the Irish beat Miami beat the fucking orange out of Miami. I don't want this game to even be close.

As to Catholics vs Criminals: Mark Richt is the essential opposite of Jimmy Johnson. C v C is completely inappropriate now. (some Miami players may have that character in them, but Richt wouldn't stand for it.)

People who are so confident in a victory need to remember the beat down tOSU took at the hands of Iowa.

If they played 12 times, I'd hazard a guess that tOSU wins 9 of them. Good teams show up every week and get the win, we still don't know if we are that good. I'm trying to keep my confidence in check because I'll be a nervous wreck on game day.

I don't think Ohio St is that good. They got punked out at home by Oklahoma..

ND > then OSU

Running the ball travels. Miami is not good enough to stop our rushing attack.

It's a night game on the road against a team hungry for respect... anything can happen.

Yeah. This is not at all a game to take lightly. Probably our toughest since Georgia. We can/should win. But will have to play well to do it.

I'm going to be a nervous wreck Saturday night. I do hope we can control the line of scrimmage and hopefully seal this game on the ground, whenever that is during the second half.

Getting through the next four days will be tough enough.

But Saturday is going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Gonna be one of those days that I have to go out and keep busy all day, otherwise I'll be freaking out and stressing during the early and afternoon slates.

8pm kickoffs for Big Important Games are torture.

On the plus side, I can put my kids to bed and actually watch the game. 3:30 starts are killer when you've got naptime, soccer practice, etc.

I don't even know what I'm gonna do to watch the game on Saturday. All of my Irish friends are out of town, and my only option other than watching alone might be to see it with my priest.

yeah, this one has me a little worried.
I want to see the first few series before I can get a sense as to how this game is going to go.

It would be so glorious to see ND simply break their will and spirit, although probably harder to do under Richt.

My usual crew is also scattered this weekend. Bad timing considering the magnitude of the game.

One guy is out of town for work, another is working a show that runs over the weekend, and my wife has a fundraiser at work in the evening.

I'll be drinking and watching with friends that are non-ND fans. Taking my extra jerseys over for them; converting them.

Why would they do that?
That stadium is owned by the owners of the Dolphins. They likely make a ton of money renting it out to Miami for seven games a year, most on weekends when it would otherwise site empty. Stadiums should be used more, not less. Maybe get artificial turf if the field can't handle the work?

Yep...........Stadiums are owned by an NFL owner or the city. Lucas Oil is owned by Indy, not Irsay. The Colts have scheduling preference, but Indy rents out LOS as much as possible. Irsay hopes it's rented all the time as he gets a cut of the concessions for all events.

I would argue artificial turf would solve many of these problems. Indy has turf, so it's really not part of my complaint. Again, just my opinion, but it's just terrible to hear about a field being replaced 4 times. The roots aren't taking hold yet, so the field rips up again anyway.

I am a believer in trying to get college games on campus, that's part of the fun. Having to play away from campus in a professional stadium is lackluster for college athletics IMO. Concerts and such at these stadiums generally happen in the off season doesn't effect the turf all that much, but look at what happens to Heinz Field every year thanks to the Steelers, Pitt, and WPIAL playoffs.

From a 2010 survey of over 1,600 active NFL players.

Yea, the one big downside of artificial turf is that it creates a lot more ACL/freak injuries than natural grass.

I read somewhere (cant remember where) that one of the big reasons for this is because the turf can take more force without moving, so more gets translated to the leg which can cause the injuries. I would like to see if something similar is the case with basketball with the new shoes that grip so well. Either way, if that research pans out, it will be interesting to see if they can reduce the amount of force the turf can take somehow.

They have that. It's called grass. Its tear-ability is a safety feature.

Much harder under Richt. We jumped on them last year and they came all the way back.

God intended for football to be played in the afternoon. Not at night. 2:30 pm CST is football time.

Per Pistol Pete Sampson:

Injury updates: Kelly “optimistic” on Dexter Williams, says Alize Mack will practice in full today, Cam Smith (hamstring) questionable.
