I haven't watched a minute of UM football this year... I've heard all about that front seven... how is their offense in terms of scheme, athletes, efficiency, etc...

Offense is very inconsistent. Rozier has talent but is coming off his two worst games of the year back to back. Let's hope his third is the worst of them all lol.

On a side, being a child of the 80s it's odd to process how little of a draw Miami's program is nowadays. I don't know if it's them leaving the Orange Bowl or what but even years like this when they are good there doesn't feel like there is any reason to ever watch them. Man, back in the day any Miami game against ANY average or better team was must watch.

They had a really good RB get injured for the year, but #24 is their go to guy and he seems just fine at carrying the load. Speed back who runs hard IMO. Their WRs are fast and they’ll go deep on us. I’m worried about Love in the deep game, and obviously our safeties. QB is turnover prone, likes to go deep, or to #8 (class Patriots white slot guy). #8 catches everything that’s ever been thrown to him. Rozier can run, and we will probably have to dedicate a spy to him for the first time all year. This part really concerns me defensively, because we’re taking a guy out of coverage.

I thought sanctions really killed them back in the 90s and then after their resurgence in the early 2000s.

Yeah it's def no the same at all... I do think them leaving the OB for some pro stadium with little character played a part too...

I wonder if they suffer from the same thing LA does: there's too much to do

Travis Homer. Balanced back who has a knack for hitting demoralizing homeruns (sound familiar?)

Their WRs are fast and they’ll go deep on us.

Jeff Thomas is the deep threat. Richards is their "possession" guy who will make some contested catches or deep receptions on play-action.

#8 catches everything that’s ever been thrown to him.

Braxton Berrios. We got lucky that he missed the game last year.

The guy that really concerns me is their TE, Herndon. Wake Forest was finding space between our LB's and safeties on simple seams and hitches, and Herndon is a dude that can make big plays with space like that. Wake may have put a blueprint out there, considering Elko will be focused on shutting down a mobile QB while also trying to eliminate the deep throws.

That's definitely part of it, as does having a stadium 40 minutes away from campus.

What amazes me is the amount of Miami fans that are crawling out of the woodwork this season, this week especially that they are playing ND. The amount of trash talk I've seen on Facebook the last 3 days by people here in PA that I've NEVER seen sporting Miami gear, or posting anything about them is unbearable.

I think people think of Miami like the team with Ed Reed... This ain't them... Go look at the NC game (24-19), FSU (24-20), G Tech (25-24).

People see the V tech but that is the exception, not the rule..

We will be able to run and run easily... Protect the ball and we win by 20

His back up has 2 sacks on the season, so I doubt it will be a huge loss besides from the depth aspect.

Depth is a huge factor when going against our OL in 70 degree weather.. You want to throw fresh bodies and stay fresh for the 4th quarter.. If you can't.. ND will be ripping off huge chunks in the second half

A-Rod signed a letter of intent to play baseball for UM, also was recruited to be the QB (Walk on btw). He went to Westminster Christian which is about 15 min south of my house and was a generational talent in Miami. Didn’t go to UM cause he was offered 3 years, $2.3M in 1993 to be the SS for the Seattle Mariners (crazy money back then). He donated almost $4M to the renovations of the UM baseball field and it was renamed Alex Rodriguez Park. He’s a huge booster of the UM athletic programs and he’s turned into a pseudo-alum of UM.

Miami is one of the worst cities in the US with bandwagon fans. It’s reflected in their attendance numbers which spike in a huge way when teams win and drop when they lose. The teams down here are like a viral video, they go up and down so quickly which is unfortunate but I don’t really care cause it’s gonna make for a fun atmosphere on Saturday!

He's also a weapons-grade douche. So there's that.

i think others have hit some important points.

Athleticism at the skill positions on offense, Rozier on the run could give us serious fits (Wolford had 59 yards rushing including a 20 yd TD run) but he is turnover prone through the air.

Defense creates pressure with speed up front but has shown to be average against the run. (ND demolishes average run D's). Probably the best back end of a defense we see in the regular season, imo.

Keys to game for me are 1. dont get beat over the top and contest 50/50 balls. 2. contain qb rush 3. dominate trenches 4. take care of the ball, especially when throwing (4a).

4a. Wimbush's numbers were much improved passing vs wake and the narrative is the WR's didnt help him. Which is true., But some of those drops (EQ's at the goal line comes to mind) weren't the most accurate throws and took some serious adjusting by the WRs before they dropped the pass. (i agree should have been caught) We might not be so luck these hit the turf Saturday night.

There's no reason to bring back "Catholics vs Convicts"... back then, it was because their players openly embraced "thug" culture and were actually getting arrested at alarming rates. A lot of their criminal activity is discussed with a chuckle in "The U" 30-for-30.

Today, they're just a normal team of guys and I'd find it very offensive to label them "convicts".

Script to the start of the game

ND wins the toss....takes the ball

Miami kicks off...CJ catches the ball 8 yards in the endzone....runs it out to the 14 yd line.

1st play..Wide receiver screen left to Claypool...Smythe and ESB fail badly to block the 4 Miami defenders and the play goes for a one yard gain.

2nd play... Wide receiver screen right....wimbush throws the ball four rows into the crowd.

3rd play....Jet sweep left to Finke...lose 8 yards.

4th play punt.

Offence on the sidelines when BK realizes this is 2017....not 2016 and stops the crazy shit in its tracks.

HAHA...

I'll say it starts like this:

Lose toss, get ball...It's a touchback.

Adams runs the ball 3 times in a row for a total of 36 yards....

Next play, play action and we hit a 39 yd TD to ESB...Crowd is quieted and never is able to get back into it.

Agree with you here. We're not a heavy blitz team so I doubt he'll get flushed out by a blitzer. If the front four can get controlled pressure, the back seven can sit back and wait for their QB to make mistakes. That's what we've done best so far so let's hope it continues.

I obviously want Notre Dane to win this weekend, but I do think UM is on the rise again and should be a fun team to play against this weekend and in the future.

1. Head Coach - Mark Richt, UM alum, he’s home and has said he’s either retiring at UM or getting fired and retiring so he wants to build something great at UM and be there for a long time.

2. Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility - Est Date of Completion - Fall 2018. $34M state of the art practice facility will help big time and they need considering they have practices interrupted in training camp due to lightning (Florida is number one lightning state in US)

3. Fertile Recruiting Grounds - Florida is the most or second most (TX) talented state in the country at producing talent and Miami is one of the most talented cities in America at producing football recruits.

4. Academics - 25th best school in the FBS (130 schools) according to Forbes best colleges

5. Talent - 20th in 247 Team Talent Rankings. See #6

6. Recruiting - 4th Best 2018 Class according to 247. That team talent is going up with their really good recruiting class

They also have a beautiful campus that I’ve been to many times. It’s 75° and sunny all winter long which I’m pretty happy about and so are the recruits. I hope we beat UM this weekend but do not underestimate this program and especially its future.

If anything, it will pull talent from FSU. UoF is already down from FSU pulling the talent. Kids that go elsewhere just want to leave Florida.

No, no, no... we have at least two big chunk gains on vertical passes or runs and THEN start that sequence of self-destruction.

Idk, I think he might be right

"Ill-advised screen" followed by "questionable 2nd and long play" followed by "run into the middle on 3rd down" is the new "take a timeout to avoid a delay and then take a delay anyway" to start our games.

Chip Long needs to warm up a bit more before the game starts.
