FWIW, everyone's favorite (Driskell) is reporting that Freeman might be able to convince Griffith to stay now that Joseph is gone. Take it with a grain of salt...

I noticed when I looked yesterday that Freeman followed Griffith. I thought maybe he was just following all the players, but he was one of only a few players he followed to that point.

So Allen and Griffith both had problems with Joseph?

I don't think it's necessarily problems with Joseph, but Griffith may be someone who needs a fresh start and now that there is a new DC and scheme, maybe he doesn't need to leave to find that now.

Would like Jack Lamb as well. He would be a perfect outside LB in a 3-3-5 scheme

This is why I still hold on to [unreasonable?] hope that Cam Hart is going to be an animal at CB when they give him an extended shot.

Smooth WR athleticism, naturally good hips, great size for a CB at 6-2... hoping Mickens uses a full spring session to springboard the development of a couple of guys.

Hart and Henderson both taking off would be the dream, based on size/athleticism combos.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable until he gets a full camp as the guy, to see what he can do with it. It’s always sounded like BK and staff were forcing reps on him because they liked what they saw. He’s a guy that I think could do really well under Freeman. Because if he doesn’t have it at CB, maybe he can flourish as one of the S or overhang defenders.

The Football Scoop report has been debunked by 247 UC, ND and LSU sites I believe. Still a good story lol.

Ahh. Thank you for the clarification. I had not heard that. Listened to The Shamrock today and there was no mention of it.

I don’t want to take anything away from Lea because he was an amazing DC, but I can’t remember being this excited over a coaching hire ever. Would love to see another haul like Lynch, Tuitt, and Ishaq with Freeman, just spread it out over the position groups. Gotta have Dudes to win big games. The Bama game 11 days ago and today proves that. Anxious to see where we can go with this home run hire!

I’m sorry but I really hope we don’t sign 3 guys like that. Only 1 of those dudes won anything for ND. Hopefully we sign the next Okwara, Hayes, Kareem, and Ade.

Oh I definitely don’t want those personalities, but more the profile.

Reading the Buckeye board after the game tonight was cathartic. They came in talking about how their defense was better than ours  Then by halftime a lot of them were wanting to fire Coombs and they wanted to hire Freeman out from under us. They were pulling their hair out in disbelief that they couldn't keep Bama's score lower than us.

I think this proves Bama didn't take their foot off the gas and our D did a good job in the 2nd half... also we were a decent qb and athletic wrs away

Well, we had a very decent QB, but you need the very elite at the biggest stage. That, or you need a Devonta Smith lol.

I'm not sure how that proves they didn't.

Personally, I believe they still did.

Say what you want about Aaron Lynch, but the guy clearly has talent. He still managed to have a few cups of coffee in the NFL.

No idea how Ishaq didn't work out. Dude was a specimen.

Ultimately, get those kinds of guys and send them to the NFL. With or without degrees. They can always come back and finish later.

Yep and do so more frequently. Can't be every five years you get a good haul.

Haha, that shows a real naivety to the situation. I'm regularly dumbfounded by how the most critical people are the ones that understand the least. Or, at least pretend to understand the least. Which says even more.

I don't think Saban has ever taken his foot off the gas in a bowl game or the playoffs. He has a killer instinct and goes for the jugular on the large stage...as I hope ND will do some day.

have to agree to disagree, but imo it was pretty aparent the play calling in the second half was very vanilla with them knowing that our offense posed little to no threat

FWIW: Can confirm that John Jancek has interviewed as a position coach.

Down to him and an unnamed coach.

Which position coach? Don't know much about him but it appears he had some stints as Dline coach, DC, and safeties coach in the past.

Lambert and Anthony Poindexter will oversee Purdue’s defense as co-coordinators, while Poindexter will coach the secondary alongside Ron English. So, no Elston to Purdue for their DC job, as had been speculated by some ND media.

Yea, big news here. I think keeping Elston on staff to work with his DL will be a big benefit to Freeman and the team.
