to me it is very similar to The Wonder Years, Fred Savage even directed an episode of the Goldbergs

Yeah, I don't see it. Totally different formats and the Goldbergs is a comedy, where Wonder Years is not.

I guess I'm just saying that if someone turned on Goldbergs hoping for a Wonder Years feel, they would most certainly be disappointed.

yes Peaky is great.only bad thing about the show is their damn 6 episode seasons, but you could blame that more on the UK

yeah its a cultural thing. British shows don't tend to drag out. They prefer quality over quantity. As of course, being a BBC show it's funded by TV license payers, not advertising.

Great examples are Fawlty Towers, considered the best British comedy series ever made has just 12 episodes. Others like The Office had 2 seasons and Father Ted had 3.

Brother, I'm with you. On lazy days during summer breaks in college, my now-wife would sit on my bed and watch Gossip Girl on the laptop while I played NCAA football (or any video game).

I started to listen to what was happening so I could be a smartass about the girly show... but then I started to get invested into the plot. And then I realized how hot Blake Lively is and what a freak Leighton Meester seems like.

Good show for sure haha. Very well done in terms of "teen drama," and they also did a good job of progressing the show and the characters as they aged along with the fanbase.

Our situations are similar.

In college my sister and I had a house near campus. We didn't have cable and my room was too hot to hang out in(we were dirt cheap in our summer living and surprisingly it gets hot as balls up here in the summer just like everywhere else). She watched Gossip Girl(she had 4 seasons on dvd) and I'd play games on my laptop. Got sucked in via osmosis. Haters can hate.

In an attempt to identify some binge watch material and too pass the time during the sports doldrums...

OZ
Deadwood
Six Feet Under

Characters:
Al Swearengen
Tony Soprano
Schillinger (Oz)
Claire Underwood

Shows:
Sopranos
The Wire
Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
(honorable mention for Deadwood)

I don't know how to pick favorite characters. A character is only as good as the show makes him/her, imo, and a show can only be as good as its characters. I just don't know how to separate the inquiries.

If you haven't watched The Wire, just do that. I'll post my list later.

Btw I was mixing up Gossip Girl with Gilmore Girls in my head and was mixing up Leighton Meester with Alexis Bledel. That's why I was wondering about the "she's a freak" comment because Alexis Bledel is so innocent.

Appreciate the Leighton Meester pics though!
