both directors of the Han Solo movie were fired, Ron Howard stepping in

Holy shit how far were they in? Reminds me of "Smoke Jumpers" from Entourage lol...

That absolutely reminds me of Entourage lol.

Who's the wunderkid, kind-of-sensitive actor being treated unfairly by a shithead director?

For real though, it's amazing that this would happen to a Star Wars movie, of all things. I wonder what the drama is? I would've thought that a Star Wars property would be fully vetted and full-proof heading in.

Disney tabbed Phil Lord and Chris Miller of 21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie, and The Last Man on Earth to direct. I think that was the problem

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were let go from the project after creative differences over style and tone came to a head...

The move comes two days after directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were let go from the movie they had spent over four-and-a-half months directing. Creative differences over style and tone came to a head between the duo and Lawrence Kasdan, with the studio backing the veteran screenwriter.

JFC. How hard is it to agree on a "style" and "tone" for a Han Solo movie? Han's a badass, but also a smartass with an ultimately soft heart. Kind of a sleazeball at times, but ultimately lovable in his abundance of confidence.

Make it funny with a few dark and gritty situations, give him some solid one-liners, and let him toe a fine line of morality, where he ultimately, but barely, falls to the side of "good dude."

Because Lord/Miller had a completely different interpretation of Han Solo's character than Lawrence Kasdan, the guy who practically created him. A quote from an inside source:

People need to understand that Han Solo is not a comedic personality. He’s sarcastic and selfish

Basically Lord/Miller were doing their normal improvisational comedic style of shooting the movie and Kasdan, the writer, and Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, didn't want that direction.

Bruce Campbell should play Han Solo's father based on that description.

This isn't really new. Josh Trank was supposed to do a Boba Fett movie. Michael Arndt was fired from The Force Awakens. Christopher McQuarrie was brought in to rewrite Rogue One. Marvel dumped Edgar Wright from Ant-Man. You don't mess with Kathleen Kennedy or Kevin Feige.

They're building a "100% immersive" Star Wars resort. Basically a multi day Star Wars LARP.

Disney just announced that the Star Wars areas of their theme parks will be called Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. The studio also gave a few more teases of how this highly interactive land will work, including the world’s first totally immersive Star Wars hotel.

A few months ago, Disney employees hinted to fans that actions would have consequences in the lands. We didn’t quite know what that meant—but at D23, Imagineers explained a bit more.

For example, you may see Chewbacca around talking to Hondo. They’re up to no good and could be recruiting a group of people to go on a mission. So then you’d go on the Millennium Falcon ride, one of two in the park. Based on how you and your crew does on that ride (the ride will allow each individual person to have their own job aboard the Falcon), you could get some extra republic credits afterward, or maybe a stern talking-to. If you’re really, really bad though, bounty hunters might hunt you throughout the park, like a new one named Harcos.

There will also be a Cantina—it was a hinted there may be booze there—and the music will be courtesy of a new DJ. It’s Rex, the former pilot of Star Tours.

That’s just one example of how things will work. However, another major announcement has to do specifically with at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. There, it was announced, Disney is planning a 100 percent immersive Star Wars hotel. That means everyone there will act like they are in Star Wars. You become a citizen once you check in, and every minute of your experience will be Star Wars. You may even have the option to dress up as the character you want to be.

Apparently, you are part of the story every minute you are at the hotel for your entire stay. Which, frankly, sounds a little scary. What if I want to sleep? We’ll have to wait and see exactly what this entails, but the concept art shown was pretty badass, including the fact that every room at the hotel will have a view into “space.”

While both Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge parks will open in 2019, the one at Disneyland in Anaheim will officially be first.
I mean... holy crap this sounds amazing. It's like Westworld-light if they do it correctly.

If they somehow make legit (I dunno... VR with Oculus Rift technology?) X-Wing experience where you battle other pilots and NPCs I would throw away gobs of money on that.

Concept art from the hotel. The second one is a guest room. So lit.

Extremely safe choice. Which is exactly what happened with ROJ.

I thought Abrams was visually great, and I like the tone and humor of TFA film a lot. But I hope he diverges from the past a lot more than he did with TFA. It was clearly supposed to echo ANH, which was fine--so many young people had never even seen it--but I think it should have toned that down a little.

I also hope he learns from some of his past movies that closure is not always a bad thing!

A leak of the script confirms that Rey tries to get Ben Solo to turn back from the dark side, and as Snoke is hitting Rey with Force Lightning Ben lifts him up and tosses him to his death. Also, Finn leads a group to blow up a shield generator while Poe fights in space, ready to blow up a Death Star.

JJ takes it in a different direction and turns everyone into Ewoks

I am ok with JJ back, I don't think they will handcuff him this time in terms of being creative

This is a solid, albeit safe choice. Probably too close to the start of production to get a really inspired choice like Denis Villeneuve or Alfonso Cuaron.

Multiple outlets reporting that The Last Jedi tickets will go on sale Monday, October 9. Run time expected to be 150 minutes, making it the longest Star Wars movie ever.

Based on preview content and the marketing they're doing, I worry that this movie is going to parallel Empire way too closely.

I understood why they did that with TFA/ANH... you're introducing a new generation to the story, while trying to make the OG fans feel comfortable and go "hey, I know that!"

I hope greatly that The Last Jedi does its own thing to a greater degree. But with the marketing surrounding the Walkers braving the sand (snow) to attack the Resistance's (Rebellion's) stronghold that is supposed to be difficult to locate, and the Resistance sending out special, low-flying aircraft to combat the walkers.... and then there's Rey/Luke in a cave during what is presumably training... and there's a good chance that we get a Rey parentage reveal...

Idk

I never considered Anakin as the pivot for that title. I always considered it to be singularly Luke as he was the subject of the prophecy. I say this as Vader told Luke the Emperor forsaw Luke defeating him. But it wasnt in battle it was through redemption of Anakin.

I guess i should add that there were not other Jedi (that we are aware of) in the moves at the end of ROTJ. So i dont know how it could be plural in the absebncenof the Order.

That's funny, because I have always assumed that ROTJ was hinting at the return of the Order, not the singular.
