Ok so my first question, at the end someone says, " I only know one truth, the Jedi must end" Is that Luke saying that or is that Benecio Del Toros character saying that?

I think and hope it's Luke. It makes complete sense when you consider the arc of the first two trilogies. The Jedi were consistently wrong about everything and Luke knows it. The entirety of Jedi teaching could be boiled down to "no attachments, no emotions." That teaching is what drove Anakin to become Darth Vader and Luke saved the galaxy by ignoring Yoda and saving his father and friends.

Yeah I listened to it a few more times, it is definitely Luke. Plus I just found a thread on reddit that confirms Mark Hamil did some voice work for the teaser trailer. So thats put to bed in my mind.

I agree that it looks to be Luke speaking. I assume that's him in the doorway/cave entrance and he's the one speaking. Correct me if I'm wrong.

In the very first moment we see Rey in the trailer, I think she might be falling out of seeing another force vision. Shes super distressed and out of breath.

It would make sense for Luke's whole goal to be to train Rey so she can defeat Ren/Snoke, and then for her to hang up the lightsaber after that.

No Sith + No Jedi = Balance

But then of course some shithead will discover a Sith holocron after the conclusion of Episode IX, and thus reignite the Sith, and thus create a storyline for the NEXT trilogy.

I don't think the plan is to abandon lightsabers and the Force. I think it's just the Jedi Order as an organization that's ending.

Yeah you're probably right, I just struggle to reconcile the entire idea of the original prophecy, which is to "Bring Balance to the Force."

Did Luke achieve that, thus fulfilling that prophecy, and now the Force is just out-of-whack again, independent of that original prophecy?

Or are we still hunting for "Balance"?

I've always believed that the whole "bring balance to the force" prophecy was simply a goal or mantra the Jedi operated under. And that balance could only be achieved in the short term. In this universe there will always be the possibility of a Force sensitive person, being born, and then either falling to the light or darkside. That sceneario will never stop existing.

I also would like to know what that Red smoke is, and how it is designed to be effective against new AT-AT's.

Or perhaps it's the natural soil under the hardened topsoil, and it's simply being irritated to create unstable footing for the walkers?

Also, Poe Dameron's X-Wing getting blown up gives me the sad.

Watching Rogue One on Blu-ray right now.

I legit cannot tell that Tarkin is CGI. If I didn't know it, I wouldn't even need a second glance, I would've just thought they found a doppelganger like with Mon Mothma.

I am still digesting the possible direction but they are definitely talking about Grey Jedis. The symbol shown when Rey mentions balance is the Grey Jedi symbol. That is definitely Luke speaking at the end.

Like others said Luke wasnt a typical Jedi. His entire arch is of a Grey Jedi. In addition to things mentioned earlier he also force choked Jabba's Gamoreans, threatened Jabba, attempted to strike the Emperor during the last battle and he literally lost his shit when Vader statrted talking about turning Leia.

I think (no hard evidence) that Luke found the original Jedi Temple and discovered evidence that the balance is neither Jedi nor Sith and is actually The Grey Jedi philosophy. Look at Luke in ANH....pristine, ignorant, wears white (symbol of purity). ESB... he wears grey which is where he has to make defining choices and he ignores the Jedi and gives into passion. ROTJ he is wearing black but very much trying to be the typical Jedi but again he embraces dark side methods and techiques in concert with wisened Jedi principles.

Not sure how Rey's parentage plays into this theory so not sure how she develops under Lukes tutelage but likewise she was wearing white at the beginning of TFA and is wearing grey at the end and apparently in TLJ as well.

Damn, that grey Jedi stuff steals my novel idea haha. Didn't know that was part of canon.

I always pictured a storyline where some enforcer rises, who aims to be the only Force user. He wields Sith powers while maintaining a Jedi composure, and eliminates Sith and Jedi alike in an effort to be the only user, thus ensuring balance.

Two other things I noticed while watching Rogue One:

The dude that announces Krenick at Vader's palace is too old to be a secret apprentice IMO, unless he's Snoke, and finds away to sustain himself for years and years beyond a normal human lifespan. He's like 60 in Rogue One, so he'd have to be beyond 100 Years old in TFA, right? I guess it's possible.

It would also create an interesting dynamic along "Luke as a grey Jedi" in that Snoke is eliminating the Sith in favor of the Knights of Ren. Altering the landscape of Force users on all sides. And it would make sense that it would be an ideology passed down from Vader himself, which would also signal why he needs a secret apprentice in the first place... Palpatine can't know that Vader is plotting to move away from the "Sith" way of things in favor of something else.

Other thing: too much James Earl Jones coming through in Vader's voice. Doesn't sound "through the mask" enough.

Goddamn Darth Vader. So good.

They need to make a movie that's just 2.5 hours of Darth Vader doing horrifying things. He's like a horror movie villain.

Agreed. In the theater my wife looked over at both me and my son ane we had the exact same look of open mouthed "Daaaaaammmmmmnnnn".

I think they will only ever do little glimpses od Vader from here on out. Listening to the Director for RO he said he really struggled with how much they showed because if we see everything then its very difficult to come back from there (ie he wont ever be horrifying again). I agree with that.

Completely agree. Tarkin looked bad in 3D, but really good in standard format.

Grey Jedi aren't canon. Y'all need to read some novels and comics.
