Okay. Now it's officially a mess. Hoke has said that he didn't see the hit and that he thought the hit was targeting - can it be both? I guess with replay?

This is a bad deal.

Exactly. It's a complete contradiction. How can you not see the hit and then alsohave an opinion on how it should've been officiated?

At this point, if you believe Brandon/Hoke, then you believe these are facts:

1) Out of the football coaches on the field and in the pressbox, not one coach actually saw the hit on Morris.

2) In 24 hours from the end of the game, the medical staff didn't provide the head coach of the football team an updated injury report.

3) It is possible that the medical staff also has a better relationship with Brandon from MGoblog than they do with Hoke, as he had the exact injury report prior to Hoke's pressure.

I also find it appalling that Hoke would even mention that the Minnesota player should have been ejected (albeit true) when he himself claims not to have seen the hit. How dare he accuse officials for delegating their responsibilities when he is being accused of the exact same thing. The man is a raging moron and I almost feel bad for Michigan fans right now... almost...

Yep. I wanted to see how it played out before being outraged. It hasn't played out well for Hoke.

I thought this poster on MGoblog stated this well:

Simple - Hoke is not Fred Flintstone
he is Sergeant Schultz.

If you had asked me two months ago if Hoke would be let go for not caring about one of his student athletes, and then openly lying about it to the press (not just being cagey), I wouldn't believe you. This is just like the Gibbons incident, in that he attempts to navigate a sticky issue by throwing a red herring out there and then claiming he doesn't or didn't know the truth.

Yesterday he said Shane would have practiced if it weren't for a high ankle sprain on Sunday. I think he also was cornered into saying Shane does not have a concussion.

Does anyone now believe Gibbons' "injury" was keeping him from playing in the Ohio State game?

I am now convinced that the heated discussion with Brandon and Nuss in the coaches room was the beginning of the cover up. The conclusion was Hoke was to play Sergeant Schultz at the post-game conference to buy time to weave the story. Then the first statement was a trial balloon to see if they could get away with not addressing the concussion concern.

IF AT ANY TIME ON SUNDAY Dave Brandon had released the statement above, this would be a non issue. SINCE football head trauma is a hot button general public issue (as further heightened by the release yesterday that Jovan Belcher had CTE), their usual bluster tactic didn't work and the story blew up, resulting in a second attempt to delay and be deceptive at Brady Hoke's press conference yesterday.

There is no way Hoke didn't know on Sunday that Morris had a concussion. He lied yesterday in an attempt to cover up what they have now admitted to - lack of communication endangered one of our players. If he didn't know - and I don't believe it given the heat of the issue - he should have found out: before practice yesterday, and certainly before he released any statements to the press and his press conference. (Just like Goodell should have insisted on getting that Ray Rice security tape and watching it.)

Brian is correct: these are not the type of people we want running Michigan Football. They need to go. So does the PR staff, or whoever is the one who sets the strategy for the releases and has final signoff authority.

Just for fun, I went to an MSU message board and they appear to be torn on the issue. They want party as the tire fire burns and get out all of their pent up frustration on scUM for all the years of arrogance and abuse by scUM teams and fans. However, many of them are cognizant of the fact that they don't want to become the arrogant douchebags that have railed on them for so long. They would rather enjoy their own good fortune and just let Michigan burn on its own. It's kind of interesting psycologically really.

Heck, they probably won't even burn any couches this year in East Lansing if/when Sparty beats scUM.

I find it hard to believe nobody from Michigan saw the hit on Morris. Nobody? Give me a break.

For a marketing/PR guy, the Michigan AD hasn't handled this situation very well.

Better to ride your own wave than flame out on someone elses. All good runs come to an end... better not ride your rivals too hard. Before long, they could be riding you.

It would make for a great MS Paint scene. All Michigan coaches with blind folds on while Morris' head is laucnhed off his body.

Michigan St is going to drop half a century on them just to make it that much worse.

Recruits and parents must be just running for the exits on anything related to Michigan. Especially after being on ABC World News Tonight, twice in the last 2 days and GoodMorning America this morning.

Their tears are so delicious and the schadenfreude is flowing at under heard of levels.

I am sure that even those with a pretense to not want to be too arrogant or douche-y to the Walverines in general, will allow them selves to go bat-guano cra-cra on them during Michigan week (game 10/25)...but still doubt any couches will be harmed

I attach this story for three reasons.

First, anyone thinking that Les will be the coach at UM needs to remember why he left in the first place. Allegedly, after Moeller found out that Les had slept with his wife, Gary called her a whore at dinner and proceeded to get drunk and cause a scene. He was then fired. The report is detailed in the article. Carr always took Gary's side on the issue and his intervening on the hiring process only enhances the evidence. While this has never been verified, I have also been told by many UM faithful that Les was married when he joined Bo's coaching staff and cheated on his then wife with his current wife, who I believe was an assistant women's basketball coach. They all believe the story to be true and they all believe he will never be UM's coach.

Next, how coaches salaries have grown! Moeller was making $130K while at Michigan.

Finally, I wish smartphones were around when this happened. Would have been a youtube sensation.

Congressman Urges Big Ten To Investigate Concussion

“I strongly urge you to investigate the circumstances surrounding Shane Morris’s injury and the decision to return him to play,” Pascrell wrote in a letter released by his office. “Additionally, I ask that you reexamine the protocols in place and determine what changes can be made to improve them. I also urge you to establish penalties for violations of concussion protocols. Every concussion is brain damage and must be diagnosed and treated by appropriate medical personnel, who prioritize players’ health, safety, and well-being.”

There is video of this incident somewhere. Jeff Jeffers showed it on the local South Bend news when it happened.

Do we have anyone in Ann Arbor who can go to the Michigan "Fire Brandon" rally and try to support him and/or otherwise sabotage it so he stays forever?

The morale in the locker room has to be pretty terrible right now. Would love to hear what some of the players think.

That's awesome! I'm glad someone else said this, I was talking to a colleague last week and he told me about this little rendezvous Moeller had, and stated that was a big reason Les wasn't hired before Hoke. They fired Carr early to make It look good to the fans, stating Miles was getting ready to play for a championship.. <div style="max-width: 500px;" id="_giphy_12Tt4U7hlXXaRa"></div><script>var _giphy = _giphy || []; _giphy.push({id: "12Tt4U7hlXXaRa",w: 290, h: 260});var g = document.createElement("script"); g.type = "text/javascript"; g.async = true;g.src = ("https:" == document.location.protocol ? The whole thing is quasi Jerry Springer. There are other rumors (this one is contradictory to the one I posted earlier, but one I have heard from time to time as well) that Carr and his wife had marriage problems themselves and Les and his now wife (who were married at this point) took the side of Carr's wife, even letting her stay with then for a short time. This pissed Carr off. Thus, when LLLoyd takes the reigns after Moeller goes bonkers, Les is immediately told to find another job.

No word on if Les managed a threesome out of that fateful night.
