If true, it makes perfect sense. If not, he's just in CYA mode. If Morris was evaluated and we didn't see it, then we should back off. The ATs and team docs have more information than us about (a) what a concussion looks like and (b) what a concussion looks like for Shane Morris.

My initial thought was Dave Brandon sitting there "just claim we got 100k... wait, no... make it a hundred and TWO so it doesn't look as fishy..."

The next headline to come out will be "Brandon purchased 20,000 cokes last week."

So is the school taking the stance no concussion occurred?

That's how I read it. Cover up the concussion like the Gibbons rape being the reason he wasn't a game participant and have Morris miss time with the leg injury listed as the reason.

If you admit to a concussion, then you basically have to fire Hoke now.

He showed clear signs of possible concussion, certainly enough to do a full examination of his retinas, ask a series of questions and brief balance test. Tell me, do you believe that two plays is enough time to do that? Especially considering you can see him not with trainers on tv during those two plays?

I'm sorry, but I see this as as clear of a case of the Michigan staff failing to follow any protocol whatsoever.

Man if this is the case, that would be incredibly sinister and if it ever got out...holy shit!

The notion of this makes me nauseous.

Sure. If he wasn't evaluated at all, that's bad. It's possible (I don't know how likely) that he was evaluated and the TV cameras didn't catch it..

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/N1mIcYz-DM8?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Take a look at the entire sequence of events in real time. He was hit helmet to chin at 2:20. The staff doesn't get him to the white of the sideline until 3:46. At 4:28 he is still on his feet with his helmet on and talking to 1 UM staff member. No one is looking at his leg at this time, and Morris hasn't yet gotten to the bench or the exam table.

At 5:17, the same UM staffer that Morris was just talking to is still with him as he has finally taken a seat on the bench and gotten his helmet off. At this point I think I have to assume that this guy is not a trainer or a doc or a coach or anyone who would hold himself responsible for a player's safety or ever be willing to look a player's parent in the eye, because if he were one of those people, he would have his hands squarely pushing down on his shoulder pads preventing him from standing up to go back into the game.

At 5:30 not a single UM coach or trainer or doctor is holding him back from re-entering the game to replace Gardner.

If your wife is familiar with the protocol, can you please inquire as to what sort of evaluation can be done in 1 minute 34 seconds, when it is clear that he only had his helmet off for maybe 30 seconds of that time and was on his feet for at least a minute of that time? Are we to believe the Michigan trainers and docs are just so good and so efficient at their jobs that they could clear Morris go back out within this tiny window of time? When it is clear that there was only a single guy (who we have established is not a trainer or a doc) with Morris during his time off the field? What am I missing?

This is exactly what I have been trying to say from the beginning. Reps for braking down the timeline.

This is perfect. Wish I could condense all of this into a tweet to spread it around.

I watched the sequence in real time. So did their staff. And we're making lots of assumptions about what they saw and didn't see. I know many many ATs. I've never met one who would knowingly send a kid out with a possible brain injury (they don't get paid enough to make those kinds of liability gambles).

I'll back out of the room now.

Damn the advertisers that came up with these stupid phrases and gimmicks. They're everywhere...and damn the idiots that click on those links and made them popular.

Did anyone perform the concussion protocol on Hoke? His head has to be hurting. Nothing a couple dozen donuts won't fix however.

While on topic, I learned from a friend over the weekend just how bogus concussion protocols can be.

Some of you may know the exact details, but apparently many schools and professional teams have the same cognitive testing that is done to establish a "baseline" when the brain is completely healthy. Then, after a head injury, the player takes the same test and has to meet or surpass the "healthy" testing level to be cleared for activity and to prove that they don't have brain issues.

What I learned is that it is almost universal that players intentionally sandbag the initial testing, that way they can easily attain that level again when needed, concussion or not.

MGoBlog spitting hot fire right now... I honestly respect the hell out of their fans for calling it how it is and not buying that clown car of lies Brandon & Co. are selling.

THIS IS NOT MICHIGAN | mgoblog

I dunno. Sounds like to me the incident was the catalyst to write what they should have been writing after the loss to the Irish. Maybe they are just slow learners at UM. But, the writer didn't hold anything back in the article so kudos to him. UM is the poster child for a dumpster fire right now.
