COLUMBUS, Ohio - Two independent law enforcement sources say a senior Ohio State running back, who has been named as a person of interest in the assault of a woman at a Columbus night club, can be seen interacting with the alleged victim on surveillance video from inside the night club.
Carlos Hyde was named as a person of interest in connection with a Columbus police report of an assault on a 19-year-old female while inside Sugar Bar 2 early Saturday morning. The alleged assault occurred at about 2 a.m., according to police.
The two sources tell NBC4's Jerod Smalley they have seen the surveillance tape from inside the downtown Columbus night club where the alleged assault took place. The sources say Hyde is visible on the tape interacting with the alleged victim. They also say that the video shows some physical contact between Hyde and the woman.
A witness identified in the police report said he saw Hyde talking to the victim, and then moments later, saw Hyde leaving while the victim was holding her head and was very upset.
At this point, no charges have been filed against Hyde. Investigators are still examining all of the evidence.
Hyde was suspended from all team activities Monday, pending the outcome of the student code of conduct and criminal investigations.
