Anybody got any non-ND interests heading into conference tourneys/Selection Sunday?

I always root for UC, but my Alma mater (NKU) is in their first year of DI postseason eligibility, and they are currently the highest seed remaining in the Horizon League tourney due to upsets to Oakland and Valpo. What a story that would be, dancing the first year they're eligible.

Let's go Norse!

I met Mick Cronin on the airport shuttle late one night two years ago. He was parked in the Economy Lot.

I'll make no comments about that.

Alec Peters goes down and the Horizon looks like DII. I'm sickened but it could be worse, could be in the Scummit. Wish the Valley would have taken us over Loyola. So it's ND, Purdue, IUPUI/IPFW if they win the Summit. And then there's Butler. Hard to root for them and Ball St but if they get on a run, I'll pull for the homestate.

That makes sense to me, really.

NKU/Wright State wasn't a bad game, at least DI offensive ball was on display (DIII defense maybe). Good defense in the first half, and then both teams heated up in the second half. Dude from Wright State that played at Moeller in Cincy got hot and looked like Steph Curry, saved his team from a blowout.

My alma mater(North Dakota State) really let me down. #2 seed in conference tourney, and got thumped by 20 in the first round.

We've made the conference title game the last five years, this is disappointing. This is really the only team I root for at school and this hurts. What makes it even worse is the coach is a local, and our star player(also a ND boy) is gone. The kid who was recruited to be our star(also an ND boy) has regressed greatly since he was a freshman...so I'm stuck watching this kid who is very well respected in the community, get ripped on for not being as good as he supposed to be for another year.

To make it worse, the rival, North Dakota, is the #1 seed in their conference tourney, and it will suck to see them probably dancing. UND vs. NDSU is not unlike Auburn vs. Alabama. It's unhealthy. Not in the mood to see them in the Dance.

Go Cyclones! ISU has the chops to make good run this year but will probably be on the receiving end of some Cinderella like they usually do any other year they are seeded decent.

I think/hope Vermont can win a game this year. No real rooting interest for them apart from being a small school that is somewhat local. And they have a sweet nickname.

They still have to win two more games to get in, but they went undefeated in the America East this year, so a loss would be pretty shocking. They should be 29-5 and like a 13 seed going into the Tourney, so they'll probably be a trendy upset pick if they don't get a brutal matchup.

Factoid that may only interest me......among division 1 men's basketball, what state has never been represented in the tournament? Answer in white below the line.

______________
Maine. While Alaska has never had a team either, there is no Division 1 team in Alaska.

2014 had none, right?

If you're saying it, then it must be true. How would I of all people have forgotten that? Some painful memories are just suppressed into a state of non-existence.

My next thought is... why would a IL ---> TX transplant know that? What other nuggets of totally random & worthless info you wanna share while we're at it???

I've spent some time in Indiana.

Careful how you say that. The Big House is in my hometown.

This just makes me think of how my dad and I talk about my mom to other people.

"Where's your mom?"
"Oh she's in prison."
"Oh..."

Mom works at a prison.

I think Zelezo is right. ND, Butler Purdue, IU and Valpo all missed IIRC.

Easy, but only because I read the article shortly before this site... "the way life should be"

I'm sure watching South Dakota State win another Summit title will be the icing on the cake for you.

I don't mind Mike Daum State University. I like when NDSU beats them but I don't get any joy out of them losing like i do with certain schools.

As did Ball St, Evansville, ISU, IUPUI & IPFW apparently.

That's 7 conferences to whiff on.

True, but I didn't include them because the closes they typically get to the NCAA tournament is filling out their brackets.

Ipfw was like 20 seconds from winning the Summit a few years ago

I root for VCU (Mo Alie-Cox is my prediction for next great NCAAMB to NFL TE) since I really enjoy their Havoc D (even with Smart gone to Texas).

I also will root for Rice due to 3rd year coach Mike Rhoades. He was born and raised a town over from me, and my family and his go way back. In fact one of the other assistant coaches at the school I coach basketball at, played with him in high school and regularly visits him in Houston. Coach Rhoades was actually an assistant at VCU under Smart for 5 years. He's improved Rice tremendously the last three years. They may make a run at the C-USA tourney this year.

I'm a life long Notre Dame and Kansas fan, so I will be pulling hard for both, and hoping if they play it's for the natty! I always get asked about this but I really do love them equally, so if they play each other I will be happy and sad no matter the outcome, and I guess I would want the team w/ the best shot to win it all to pull it out. I like the Jayhawks chances this year, w/ their unreal backcourt, but they don't have much depth. Although I think that's overrated in the tourney. I think the Irish could make a run too. College football is my favorite sport, but the tourney is my favorite sporting event every year. Love March!
