I don't think ND was annihilated. WVU shot perfect from 3 in the second half. It's pretty damn hard to win that game.

UVA and FSU had been some of the most hot/cold teams in the country all season. When they play great, they're amazing teams. But when they don't, they look pitiful. I mean, FSU had several double digit losses on the season. They were seeded way too high.

This won't be a popular conversation, but when are we gonna start talking about how the ACC as a whole was overrated this year? ND, UVA, and FSU getting annihilated yesterday is a bad look for sure.

Well they could change the narrative on that if Duke, UNC and Louisville were to make the FF.

West Virginia looked like a FF team yesterday.

I suppose it depends on what your definition of "annihilated" is. Because we trailed from the first basket, never even ever tied it up and were chasing a ten point differential most the game. They dominated us in every statistical category.

The question I have is how did they show up so unprepared for WVU's press? Anyone that has watched them play in the last decade knows that they press hard and we looked like we almost were surprised by it. Then we didn't match their press until three minutes left in the game with hope evaporating. Just bonkers.

I kept seeing the bball writers talking about how ND doesnt have the personnel to answer press-for-press. But with Farrell and Pfleueger available, and Vasturia and Gibbs there as well, I don't know if that's accurate.

ND needed to change some things up against both Princeton and WVU. Brey didn't adjust enough in either game.

Bright side is that the team has a chance to be better next year, pending a couple of guys working on balancing their game.

Also, fuck michigan, but two of the worst calls you will see went against them at the end of the half against Louisville.

Fuck Louisville, too.

Yeah, when I brought this up to a friend last night he shot me that same "we don't have the personnel" talking point that he probably heard the talking heads say. But I'm with you, I have no idea why our roster, filled with aggressive defenders and athleticism, wouldn't be capable of even a basic press.

Also, big props to Bonzie though. He was hurting big time and balled out. His team mates completely let him down.

Of course, Michigan has to be the anti-ND in the tournament. Hitting every big shot in the 2nd half, etc. Gross.

Of course, the 2011 Big East -the other contender for 'best conference' in recent memory- had a conference record of 13-10, with two teams in the Sweet 16 (alas).

I think people were probably assuming that past two tourney performances of the 'new' ACC (38-12 in 2015 and 16) would be replicated again.

The 2015 ACC might have a stronger claim on the 'top conference' than this year's ACC. Certainly, tournament performance suggests that. The conference record was 17-5 (.77) with 5 Sweet Sixteen teams.

Despite being trashed all season, Big 10 sending others home.

Yea, I'd say the best showing of any conference so far. ACC looks to be a little overrated. Still think it's the deepest conference, but not sure it's quite what some made it out to be.

In other news, my bracket is hilarious

Arkansas has played their asses off, against some awful officiating. Gonna be so bummed if they don't pull it out.

How about that play where the Carolina dude took 4 steps and ran into two people and shomehow neither a block, charge, or travel was called lol... good grief the officiating is bad in college ball...

The true indictment of the terrible officiating is that Drew was fouled/raked by two Arkansas defenders before he turned into Eddie Lacy with the ball tucked and the shoulder down.

Could've called 5 different violations on that play, and didn't blow one whistle.

Refs just gifted a second half comeback to Oregon IMO. RI couldn't buy a foul.

Oregon was in double-bonus with nearly 10 mins to play in the game. Theyou had two fouls to give in the final minute.

Just a crazy disparity.

Lol. I was impressed North Carolina had such elite coaching and stellar player discipline they only committed two fouls in 16 minutes. It was remarkable.

Well they could change the narrative on that if Duke, UNC and Louisville were to make the FF.

If UNC doesn't have the same refs next round the narrative will be "ACC out, 8 teams left."

Well, ACC basketball had a rough weekend. Frankly, UNC was lucky to win.

The ACC had a very good run in 2015 and 2016, though. The tournament records of the conference records in those seasons stand up to just about any other conference in recent history. This year, not so much.

Not sure you can really read anything into these. B1G was supposed to be overrated this year, but did well. Big East was supposed to be one of the best, but are down to two teams.

Listening on fox sports radio on the way in and they were discussing the unfair advantage South Carolina had over Duke playing so close to home. Did these knuckleheads forget all of the tournamrnt games Duke and UNC typically play so close to home?

And I'd be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts Duke was better represented in the stands.

Joining the chorus of ACC overrated. I don't believe the whole grind theory BS, because they weren't just being beat, they were being jail sexxed.

Nope - there was a good sized USC crowd AND all the UNC fans stayed to cheer on the Gamecocks(well, to cheer against Duke).
