Pretty pumped up about having Brown fall into our laps at 32. Hope we can address CB and OL, but I really would like a big receiver in Strong. Should be an interesting day 2.

Exactly how I feel. They should probably just go CB and Guard with the next couple picks, but I'd love Strong or a RB like Abdullah or Duke Johnson.

Tough call. Seems like he has some issues but he's also head and shoulders better than the next best pass rusher, in my opinion. The risk may be worth the reward to a team in need of a pass rusher, like the Bears who have the 39th pick.

Taking those issues into account and the fact that some teams have completely removed him from consideration I'd rather reach for guys like Nate Orchard/Eli Harold at 3-4 OLB or even Preston Smith as a 3-4 DE. Also, what if Landon Collins is there? All options I l'd like better.

Kevin White is arguably the top wide receiver in the draft and the only guy who can challenge him for that spot just so happens to have the best route running a college prospect has had in years. White is an athletic freak and was the BPA. That's how you build the team. The team is better because they now have a better player. There is no trading down and getting a Kevin White. Immediately after the BM trade, wide receiver became a need because of Alshon's impending free agency. White is frequently compared to Julio Jones, who everyone agrees is pretty good. The other comparison I see is Deandre Hopkins, who is also pretty good. Getting an elite playmaker who is just now scratching the surface of his potential will pay off for years. I trust Gase to turn White into a stud at the next level, just like he did with Demaryius Thomas.

There is literally no one arguing that he's the best WR in the draft. No one thinks he's a better prospect than Cooper. He also wasn't the best player available, not on any of the player rankings I saw. Maybe you have insight to the Bears board, but I doubt anyone knows that.

I don't care who he compares to as a WR, we didn't need a WR with the 7th overall pick. All of the top tier pass rushers, OLB's and safeties are now going to be gone by our second pick. We missed our opportunity to get a difference maker at a MASSIVE area of need in order to get a guy that grades out no higher than a #2 WR for our team. I just don't see how that makes us better. Teams aren't built with "athletic freeks who are the BPA" like you said. Good teams pick up difference makers in the first round and understand the value of a pick. Do you honestly think Belichek would have picked White #7 overall? I don't... And it would be a better fit for them than the Bears.

I agree, there is something odd going on with Gregory (mental disorder is the rumor, right?). It only takes one GM who desperately needs a pass rusher to be blinded by his physical gifts. Collins is a great football player. I just don't know how his game translates to the NFL. I think he'll struggle in coverage unless he improves technique and keeps his body lean.

From NFL.com -
"Chicago Bears

Biggest needs: Receiver, outside linebacker, safety.

The Bears could get back to their defense-centric ways under John Fox. The wily head coach traditionally uses his initial picks on blue-chip pass rushers when he takes over a franchise (see: Julius Peppers, who went second overall to the Panthers in 2002, and Von Miller, who went second overall to the Broncos in 2011), and the Bears are in desperate need of a 3-4 edge presence, with new coordinator Vic Fangio heading up the defense. An electric defender like Clemson's Vic Beasley or Missouri's Shane Ray would certainly fit the bill as a rush OLB. The Bears have failed to sufficiently fill their safety need over the past decade, despite expending a number of draft picks on potential candidates. Alabama's Landon Collins is the cream of the current crop; an underrated playmaker like Arizona State's Damarious Randall could be an option on Day 2. If the Bears elect to replace traded-away veteran Brandon Marshall with a blue-chip pass catcher, Alabama's Amari Cooper and West Virginia's Kevin White are the likely candidates. Chicago could look for a value pass catcher on Day 2, which would make USC's Nelson Agholor or ECU's Justin Hardy potential fits."

White was no stretch at that position and plenty of people saw that as an option for the Bears. He was also the highest rated available per NFL.com and the drop off they project at WR is huge after the top two. Bears may have seen the buzz and felt there would be a run on WRs to boot. Maybe they put more stock in the offseason moves than you and I. Maybe Beasley did not interview with them well. Maybe they really hoped Williams would drop. Maybe they just took a best available mentality with the first pick. Either way, it is far from a bed crapping moment and I am excited to see him in a Bears uni.

I'm guessing the Colts strategy has something to do with keeping Luck happy so that when it comes time to do a contract extension he won't even consider testing the free agent market.

Grigson came out and said they took the best player available.

will never understand the Colts attitude towards drafting defensive players tbh.

As long as they have Luck, but as none other than Peyton Manning has shown us it's almost impossible to be a super bowl winner if you're soft on defense and can't run the ball. Overall I like 3-4 defenses, but you need to commit to drafting to the scheme, especially on D-line, more than you need for a 4-3. The Pats do this to some team that can't stop the run every year, and they go 2 TE's and just pound the opponent's front 7 into oblivion (coincidentally that opponent is often the Colts). If you can't beat teams in multiple ways in the playoffs, someone will figure you out and stop you.

Wonder who they want:

@AdamSchefter

Titans entertaining offers for top pick in 2nd round, No. 33. Top teams in round 2 all taking calls. One team interested in coming up: PITT.

Steelers need DB help badly. Is there anyone worth moving up for from their 22nd spot in Round 2? What would it cost to move up20 spots, maybe a 4th round pick?

It sounds like Jalen Collins CB LSU is the best available at the position.

according to the draft trade chart it would cost them their 2nd, 3rd and 4th round pick.

Draft Trade Chart | ProFootballTalk

Edit: To make it work they may need to throw in a 6th round pick as well, saying that they go by the trade chart.

In regards to Pittsburgh trading up to #33, I've read that there is only one CB that they like in the 2nd round and they would have to trade up to get him. It is also being tweeted that they are trading up to get Maxx Williams.

They'd probably have to give up their 2nd and 3rd round picks.

I'm going to assume that they would draft their CB if they trade up

EDIT: Apparently the rumor is that Sean Spence or Vince Williams will be a part of the deal. So they might get to keep their 3rd

4 for 1, no way. I wouldn't do the 3 for 1. Swap seconds and add a third I could see but not a 3rd and 4th. and certainly not a 6th additionally. They need more than just 1 corner here. They need to get 2 DB's in this draft.

surprised bears fans on here aren't happy with White? I think hes gionna be straight up stud, and sooner than later.

I think bears may end up with white in round 1 and then an L Collins/goldman maybe in rd 2.

like larry david used to say: "pretty good...pretty,pretty good"

I think having draft in spots 7 thru 11 last night were tough positions. no "easy" picks after 6. most drafts are noo brainers thru 12th pick. this year overall is very weak draft.

Bingo. I'll be really happy if they take Gregory, Goldman or either Collins next.

I don't know if I agree with that. I do agree that the top isn't as strong as most years but I feel that this is a pretty deep class. Jaelen Strong, Eddie Goldman, T.J. Clemmings, are all very talented and could easily have been first round picks (and that doesn't include Gregory who has top 10 talent). Heck in most years someone like Bryce Petty would have been picked in the first round (He is at least as good of a prospect (if not better) as Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, JM, Wheedon, etc.).

What exactly did Gregory do to be regarded as a riskier pick than Ray and DGB?
