Typed faster than I could think apparently, that is why I deleted it. The quote says battle is for 4th DE and that must be between Rochelle, Jones, and others. Initially I was including Nix into the equation and thinking Rochelle was pushing Sprinmann but then after think about it Springmann must have the #3 locked up.

Did anyone else notice that in a 90 second interview, Tommy used the phrase 'you know' at least 20 times? Am I the only one bothered when athletes, you know, do that?

I'm bothered when anyone, athlete or otherwise, does that. I include myself, though at my age I'm more prone to "Um" and "Ah." It could be one of those generation gap thingies.

Tommy was fairly articulate until Nolan asked him, "Who stood out in practice today?" Then the filler phrases started as he reached for a politically correct answer. Very understandable, especially if the coaching staff advised the players to be careful in what they reveal to media.

Assuming Tuitt is overweight, and it appears he is, it's a concern. Sure, he'll shed some weight now but fall camp isn't meant to get players in shape, it's designed to make you a better football player. If you come to camp out of shape, it's hard to improve as a player. Carrying the extra weight will also increase the likelihood of injury too.

Having a groin injury isn't really an excuse either. It's simple - if you can't burn the calories b/c of an injury, push yourself away from the table. He's got millions of reasons to dominate this year. Hopefully he's ready.

To be fair, I think the Mahone doubters have been justified to an extent. He was not impressive in the Spring game, which is really the only action we (the fans) have seen of him. I fall into this camp but in no way have I written him off as a future contributor to this program. Kelly's recent comments are encouraging and also provides a glimpse into Mahone's work ethic and determination. As with all Irish players, I'm rooting for him.

If he has trouble carrying the extra weight, he will not be as dominate of a player (Nix will undoubtedly agree). If he regresses, the defensive will suffer. He and Nix are the key to the entire defense. If they are not dominate, the defense will be slightly above average, at best.

Definitely wouldn't categorize myself as Mahone hater as, like NDWorld stated, I root for everybody that wears a gold helmet. I am also encouraged by what we're hearing just don't see where the playing time comes from. If he's at the slot now he'll undoubtedly be behind at least Amir and probably Procise so I can't get too excited about our 2nd or maybe 3rd string slot since the slot isn't even going to be on the field every down.

I agree with this big time. I'm sure that if there is a problem it is being addressed by the staff.
