I doubt BK will push too hard on this. If BW is fine, he'll play. If BW is a little iffy, then BK will hold him back and play Book.
I feel confident with either one playing.

i dont think ive seen anyone say sever injury. I think most people would rather him get 100% for USC than continuing to play banged up the rest of the year.

Sweet baby Jesus snuggled in a warm cotton throw blanket...his foot was severed offf?!?!?!?!?!?!?

and they are down playing it?!?!?!?!?

No matter what I think Book should start. Keep Wimbush dressed just in case, if he is able to go at all. Let's see some Book. I'm actually fairly confident for once about this game. Rest Wimbush up for USC. No reason to make it worse.

Man.. We have a lot of faith in a guy who has completed 38% of his passes this year...

I don't know either way if Book can play, but I also don't think he comes in throwing for 250...

Hmmm.... this is beginning to sound as if BW could use the week off IF Coach can afford to do so. But Kelly will only know that once he sees Book on the opposing field as a first time starter.

If Wimbush can play, but is gimpy, I'd start Book and see. I might have a quick hook, but in some ways this would be the most relaxed coaching situation about replacing QBs one could get at ND. Folks expecting BW to rest; folks not knowing what to expect from Book. Folks (mostly) understanding if Kelly has to pull him. Folks (mostly) understanding if Kelly needs to rotate them to give BWs ankle rests and Book's mind clearing time.

BUT if it's also clear that BW CAN'T play, do you really go with Van Gorder as back-up, or do you get the rookie ready?

p.s. I can easily be totally wrong, but Book seems to me to have a natural QB game-situation presence. Eye-tests can be WAY off, but that's what my eyes see when I see Book operating the team --- intuition said: this guy's a player.

UNC's defense is all around horrendous, and our running backs are playing great. Book could hand the ball off on 75% of snaps and we'd still win comfortably.

I agree; have Wimbush dress and keep him in the wings just in case, but plan to give him a day off.

We should count our blessings. We're ridiculously healthy so far going into the game before the bye week, and if our qb had to be injured, this is the best time of the year.

Easy win into a bye week, so he has plenty of time to heal and book has plenty of time to learn from his UNC mistakes between then and the usc game if he has to start that one too.

The stars are really aligning this year.

I'm not trying to elevate him, we'll probably regress offensively but he's shown good poise and I'm hoping we are strong enough that he can take a backseat and the bus still moves.

Ahh screw it, I'll go on record.... I don't think we will regress.

Listen, Wimbush is our guy, but I honestly don't think we will miss much of a beat with Book against a mess of a UNC squad. If this was USC, I may feel different. But I think where Book lags Wimbush in running ability, he makes up for throwing the ball. We will be alright if he gets the nod in this game.

If anything it could help for a game or two... yes even against SC... you have to figure everything that's been on film is basically worthless to UNC now... this all assumes Ian can come in and play well enough.

I'd rather have a really good running game and a good passing game, than an elite running game and below average passing game.

I personally think Book will offer more in the passing game than Wimbush. I think we're just fine.

Its amazing how cocky a fan base can get after a good couple of weeks against lesser opponents.

Thinking the same thing. NC looks like a dumpster fire yeah, but they are still a P5 school and we're playing them at their home. We're not so good that I'm confident about us not dropping an easy one with a backup QB.

For the record.... I have UNC by 15+.....

quick, short intermediate routes. Book gets the ball out quick. Doesn't have the arm strength, though that ball to the SlipperyFox was perfect

you think koon is just out trying to start up anti BW or BK propoganda because of crutches? come on man

I think it was more that he is always for looking for ways to slam Kelly. Brandon was walking around inside the Gug without crutches

Can you read? You do this all of the time. Look up.

Yes I can read, you slam Kelly and every thread. I get it, you don't want them here, a lot of people don't but he's here so why always look for the negative with Kelly?

I think Kelly is aware of what's going on and is trying to mask things. He's the ND football coach and his job is on the line this season, I believe he'd know if Wimbush is on crutches or not.

I'm not ripping BK, I'm fine with him approaching it this way.
