I think the QB play is here to stay for a while. Maybe not first qb in draft level, but where the year we do get a D, watch out.
Interesting.
I was speaking with someone who made a good point yesterday.
Kelly really does a good job in developing players. The NFL loves Kelly and ND players. They are well rounded, (read that as less susceptible to problems), usually have superior self-discipline, top grade communication skills, and have great work ethics.
What if this guy is right? He says what makes Kelly turn out great players is a pattern of coaching, which turns out superior prospects, but as an unintended consequence costs ND close games, and games against major components.
Much if this, he believes isn't even anything that actually needs correction. When I asked for an example, he said too many players leave too early from ND. They are capable, yes, but NFL game-ready, no.
When you think about it. ND may have been awesome if half of those who left early, stayed. And, he also said that anyone who can leave early this year shouldn't. Seriously. Maybe the slow start for the season will foster a desire for kids to stay.
Kizer may be #1 on McShay's board, but that doesn't really matter. He has some growing to do. And that is why they have those insurance policies.
