In all honesty, my rule of thumb is that you ALWAYS offer a smart, athletic, kid with a frame that big. It's a no-brainer.

Though, at 6'6", he'd be plaing TE or DE for us.

To this day I still shake my head at this recruitment. I would have loved to see Hubbard rocking a gold helmet. Reminded me a little of Danny Mattingly

It's a strange comparison, but this kid's defensive highlights remind me of Samardzija playing safety in high school.

Went to a baseball game with a couple friends that are big pOSU fans. They debated this guy for nearly 5 innings on what position he would be most freakish at. I was in pain the entire time.

I respect Diaco, but him mailing it in and not even making the time to evaluate him in a timely fashion... while Urban got to his film quickly and then put on a full court press... was one of the most maddening things I've ever witnessed. And the rationalization after he committed to OSU was ridiculous. And then it got double bad when late in the cycle Diaco extended an offer because it just proves he was good enough to deserve a spot somewhere. 6'6" guys with his athletic abilities are quite rare.

Then to read:
Every once in a while when Sam Hubbard is relaxing in his dorm room, he'll find himself flipping through the channels when he'll come across a Notre Dame lacrosse game on TV.

For the former Cincinnati Moeller lacrosse star, it's a nice break from his hectic life as an Ohio State freshman.

It's also a reminder of what could have been.

"I miss it," he admitted. "Notre Dame's No. 1 in the country."

It does not get worse than that.

Yeah, it's especially infuriating because under normal circumstances, this is the physical specimen that Diaco loves to go after. That being said, given the loaded DE class we had in 2014, it makes this sting a little less.
