A mere day ago I followed your thinking to the letter. At 5 PM yesterday I said in post #2410:

I doubt he ends up at UCLA despite the reports of him leaning that way. Maybe when they all sit down as a family it ends up being the best "compromise" and that's what they settle on but I don't see it. The longer this has played out the more comfortable I think he is making the "best" choice instead of the "easy" one... and there isn't a single category where UCLA trumps 'Bama or ND except for proximity to home being driveable.

I then had probably about a dozen people tell me why UCLA was the favorite and why I was wrong and I believed them.

Now today people are saying we should be "cautiously optimistic."

So I'm really done listening to "reports"... it'll all be over in about a day for Eddie and even sooner for the others.

As so often occurs when a recruit is not talking, the "insiders" generate a story without any real evidence. The "sources close to EV" are usually nothing more than third hand gossip. Moreover, it is imposiible to know what is legit. Even supposed insiders are prone to wild guesses. The b.s. you read on boards (like this) occaisioanally has some credibility and sometimes gets the end commitment correct by sheer luck. But until Vanderdoes himself says he has made up his mind...it isn't a done deal. Personally I have been cautiously optimistic since he decommitted. But I am not investing any emotional attachment to EV just yet.

I'm thinking that no one knows a gosh darn thing. I gave UCLA a *slight* (10%) lead earlier today and said they should be the expected outcome... entirely based on the reports out there yesterday that were basically pure speculation with questionable "sources." There's so much conflicting info out there now with basically people off the west coast leaning ND and people on the west coast leaning UCLA...

I'll take him at his word that he hasn't made a decision and will sit down with his parents tonight to make one. Then he'll have to sleep on it... so he might change it in the morning whatever he decides tonight.

So what am I thinking now? I really have no clue what to think. This is the problem with getting close to NSD is it becomes darn near impossible to decipher BS from legit reporting... because everyone overnight turns into a "source." So i'll just relax for the next 24 hours and see how it all unfolds.

As you should (as have I). Mike Frank said it last week, and reiterated it again last night - this is one recruitment that no one knows jack **** about, so ignore everyone because we most likely will be going in dark. And I finally have listened to him LOL.

I will say this though...I talk to people and read A LOT about CA recruiting as it pertains to ND. And to a man, everyone said UCLA. Not just UCLA mods and UCLA mods...people that have no dog in the fight. The 2 things I kept hearing were that USC is out and that EV will most likely pick UCLA. Other people have been saying ND and Bama, but those aren't people I know personally or people I read, so it wasn't on my mind as much.

I'm still hearing UCLA (same with Fitts), but I'm loving that more people are talking ND. I know nothing personally other than what I hear and read, which means I truly know nothing. Maybe tomorrow will be exciting after all...

Thats funny as hell...

Anyway, for what its worth, of course I want him...but personally I want him to want ND (I know, I'm going all Cheap Trick on everyone).

So I want him to go where he wants to be...As I said in other threads...no one in the history of transferring from ND that I can recall said it was a good move when they made it to 30 something, and looked back.

...what that means for someone choosing ND out of the gate...I think it means ND is what what you think it is, and other places tend not to be.

If kids could think like a 30 something for 10 minutes...ND would have a roster full of 5 stars...
