Screw Fuller, he unbalanced our offense like crazy.

Its going to be nice having our best wr actually get targeted.

Will was a home run hitter, that the coaches targeted like Calvin Johnson..

I'll say this again. The guys name is fightin Irish lover 7. Will fuller's number for the fighting Irish is number 7. He may have not have been referring to him but he probably owns a number 7 jersey. It's comical.

WTF is all this trash doing in Tori's thread? Looking forward to seeing Hunter become a PTPer next year - be interesting to see if he continues to split time in the secondary.

Dude, you NAILED it! Best post on here in awhile! Screw one of the biggest, most clutch playmakers in college football... a guy that on a per target basis was MUCH more productive and explosive than any other All-American caliber WR in the country... and despite a relatively low usage rate also opened up the entire offense by demanding safety help over the top which gave us a favorable box to run against on most downs. He TOTALLY unbalanced the offense with his 25% target rate, which was 44th in the country. I'd really hate to be the other teams like Bama, Ohio State, Baylor, Oklahoma, etc. that had a primary receiver with a higher usage rate.

You're very smart and should post more.

No italics bro?

I expect Torii Hunter to make a big jump next year and ESB to be the big, dominant receiver that Corey Robinson was supposed to be.

My god, the board has truly gone into the event horizon.

We are now chastising our best offensive player for being too good. The one who helped create a great rushing team since he almost always required a safety over the top.

I think we get the point everyone. The post was dumb. Move on---you don't need to respond to it to indicate your disagreement.

i can remember the same argument being made about Michael Floyd in that he was too good for Tommy Rees lol

He definitely flashed some brilliance this season, looking forward to see what he can do with Brown and Fuller gone. On the downside, not having Will to take the top off the defense may make Hunter's job harder, but he's an explosive playmaker when the ball is in his hands. Hopefully we find ways to get him the rock.

Signed with the Angels yesterday.

Would seem to make a return for 2017 season unlikely.

Not true. He is not a good baseball player. Check out his career stats. He has only started 1 game in his career!

I was under the impression he was a legacy pick, a lot like the kids of Montana, Golic, etc. getting a scholly from ND. Did he sign as a formality too?

Yeah MLB is chock full of legacy picks that don't sign, but I was under the impression that if you sign you get a signing bonus, aka he loses his amateur status?? Very confused here

In baseball. He can still play football. IIRC, Jeremy Bloom was a professional skier, but could still play football at Colorado.

Correct.

This article seems to imply Torii will graduate in December and would pursue either professional football or baseball after that. At least that's how I read it.

Signing with Angels won't keep Torii Hunter Jr. away from ND football - Notre Dame Insider: Notre Dame Football

The articles with any substantive detail all seem to say that he may start to play AAA as early as July. But that he would be back for this season, at least.

THJr., seems to be open to a fifth year, as well as this year.

BK is the one that seemed to say have a great year this year, get a decent signing bonus, and let the chips fall where they may. BK pointed out that even a 6th rounder gets over 100k in signing bonus, that would put him well ahead of what he could expect, being a 24th rounder in baseball.

I've been watching condensed versions of last year's games in anticipation of Fall camp, because I'm a football addict with a real problem.

I thought of a good prop bet for next season:

Over/Under on number of passing attempts for Torii Hunter, Jr. in 2016

What was his 2015 total?

3 passing attempts.

If he throws more than twice all year we are in trouble.

Why do you say that?

He threw the ball 3 times last year in optimal situations. It's not outside the realm of possibility that he gets the same amount of opportunities as last year to keep the defense honest.

Next year he'll been an even bigger offensive threat, and probably command more respect if he gets the ball on a reverse or sweep, making it more likely for the play to work the first time
