yeah because getting up to go to the office for the next 40 sounds SO MUCH BETTER
Exactly what I was thinking. It's not the best.

6th year would be nice but odds are he isn't healthy next year either.
how has Brennan Scarlett been doing for the Trees?
Exactly!
From my perspective, every scholarship counts for a growing great class of sixteen. I am not sure I want to spend even one on a guy that probably doesn't have starter level talent, and hasn't played a complete year of college football. He seems like a great guy, but the decision here seems easy.

When we have 85 scholarships to start the season...at some point...ever...then I might agree with you. Until that time, you're right, the decision here seems easy.
Exactly!

id say try get him back next year and have a go at training camp, if he does not make it stick him on a medical scholly ala Deeb and Heuerman this year
I disagree. We are going to have the room to take him anyways . We always are under 85 scholarships. What's the harm in taking a veteran who has playing experience, if not just for depth purposes. Depth can get thin real quick and having a guy with experience could be really beneficial.
This is the way to go if ND can legally. With Sebastian's understanding. If the conversation can go like. You don't have a great health track record. First sign of problems, for your long term well being, we are going to pull the plug.
Again I don't know whether or how this can be done legally.
Nobody knows that yet! Like the old philosopher said, "Just because you throw the same rock in the air 9999 times and it returns to your hand every time, doesn't mean you can assume it will the 10,000th!"
Granted it has never been close to a problem before. But this year came a lot closer than ever! If things had been just a little different (B+, signee making it past admission, a freshman not being homesick, or an appeal reversal) we may have been in a bind.
Recruiting is becoming its own lean mean animal :
- More organized, and unified attack by the staff;
- Additional success to point out to recruits;
- Marketing, especially in three words - Showtime, Showtime, Showtime;
- More rational approach to rating recruits on the board, (less personal preference);
- Staff casting a wider net;
- Earlier connections, and better long-term relationships built (à, la Harry Hiestand);
- CJ Prosise, Will Fuller, DeShone Kizer, Jaylon Smith, Jerry Tillery, KeiVarae Russel - these are guys whose stories capture recruits imaginations, and recruits want to emulate;
- And ND is starting to look like a perennial ten-win team.
BK just said they're going to preserve his year unless the absolutely need him. Huge news for next year.
I thought he confirmed it himself.These has not been confirmed yet according to ISD
I want Avery back, especially since he's at a position in need, but how does he get an extra year and Grace does not?
Grace was hurt in the 6th game of the 2013 season so that season doesn't count. He only missed one year (2014) due to injury and you need to miss two in order to be eligible for a 6th year.
I think Case Keenum got a 6th year after playing 4 games of a season. Given that Grace didn't play in 2011, and was out for all of '14 and half of '13, he's really only had 2 1/2 years of playing time. Seems like a good reason to give someone a 6th year if you ask me.
