The night is young, OC!!!! BVG makes me negative because you just feel like the opposition is going to hang 35+ on us. I have no faith in his scheme or whatever you want to call it. Can someone on campus like some candles for a healthy defense the entire season?

Thing is games early in the season BVG's defense dominates. Prime examples Michigan 2014 and Texas 2015...

yea I can't get a read on the guy...I can't tell if injuries screw him, or if coaches read his tendencies, adjust, and then he doesn't.

Seems most likely that the backups haven't been deep enough in the playbook, so injuries happen, then the opposition pegs you, and you can't do something different.

Not sure how well that plays this year though...everyone from 1-4 in the depth chart should assume they are playing...not just a mental exercise...you are likely to play...

And as Parcels would say "Don't be that guy"...Don't be unprepared, Don't make your team suffer...at ND next man in is NO BULLSHIT!

Dline should be stout against run. But can they maintain the pocket? Rush the qb without allowing jailbreaks?

Linebackers are athletic, quite a bit of inexperience, but excited to watch this group.

CB as long as we stay healthy we'll get good enough play here. Least of my worries currently

S - should get solid play vs run teams, will find out how they cover. Pray for health here.

Overall D should be about as deep as ever (excluding S). Just alot of minimal experience in key spots, leading to the big unknowns.

I think this group is athletic and can hit. I'm excited to watch them.

If they are as good as last years D we are going to have a shot at playoff spot. If they are better, watch out.

This is where I feel we will miss Jaylon. He was so good at running down guys coming out of the backfield and limited big yardage gains. I hope we do not go back to the days where the play looks stopped only for the QB to scramble for a huge gain. The new starters at LB need to really step up especially in this area.
