Can you imagine being a mormon and being in the Bama lockeroom?

Talk about a culture shock.

I was going to say the same thing when bringing up Mama. I had momentarily forgotten that Luatua's bro is there. I can't even imagine what his first few days of practice were like.

Hope this is taken correctly… As a friendly outsider(to both) who is neither Mormon nor Catholic I always thought the two had one strong thing in common... tons of misunderstanding, misconception and at times, bitterness from others… I would imagine a Mormon at ND or a Catholic at BYU would at least be able to bond with their spiritual brothers in that regard…

I found it very interesting that he said his whole family wanted him at ND.

How much do we think that is influenced by where his brother went and his experiences there?

Would have to think if they felt highly of Alabama his family would want him there too, no?

I am not sure how a Catholic would fit in at BYU? I am sure they are perfectly nice people, and you make an interesting point.

I think Mormons like ND, because it is a little less crazy and a little more socially conservative than purely secular institutions (think, single-sex dorms). It's kind of a half way house.

Most Catholic schools have coed dorms. ND is just wierd like that. I see your point though.

That's what I was referring to in a round about way with my earlier post.

Jim McMahon was constantly in trouble at BYU. I think that may be the most visible Catholic I can recall going to BYU.

Right. I was talking about ND, which is still Catholic in more than just name. Not 100%, but more than most...

I've heard that. Hilarious.

if those experiences by his brother were detrimental in any respect, do you think they would really make it down to the final 2? I could see keeping them around because of the lure of playing with a brother but if your brother had uncomfortable or off putting occurrences then it would be likely that you dont keep them in your final 2 without expressing the absolute desire to play with your brother

Because he committed to ND. No wait...that's something ESPN would do.

lol @ this mindset. Take your Notre Dame goggles off.

The sites will boost players when they commit to ND, time and time again.

Having Notre Dame ranked high=good for business not the opposite

It may be Irish goggles but I've felt for years that there is a strong anti-irish bias where they bask in our mis-steps and minimize our successes. Rightly or wrongly I find myself watching ESPN watching closely and listening for snubs and watching for more coverage of a red-faced Kelly on the sideline. College football is better (IMO) when ND is in the hunt...I just don't believe ESPN feels the same way about it.

ESPN doesn't (directly) benefit financially from ND being good. So by slobbering over the SEC and slighting ND (or, say, the B1G), they can pump up their own assets and make the other guys' look worse. Not a bad gig.

Then why did ABC televise the Pitt game in prime time? ESPN (and ABC) televise roughly half of our games. The benefit from us being good more than they do most schools.
If you watch SportsCenter looking for bias against anything, you'll find it eventually. But the idea that there's some strong anti-Irish bias out there is kind of tiresome. Some fans of pretty much every major program think the media is biased against them. How do you think Okie State feels about SI these days?

Please not this argument again. ESPN does not have a corporate wide bias against ND. Are there individuals on TV who are not ND fans and might not like ND, of course. ESPN is not holding down ND recruit rankings or trying to keep perception of ND down. ND being good equals viewers, clicks, and money and ESPN is an entertainment organization. ND success is good for their them
