These recruits are my age this year, and it's so weird to me now that people my age are getting so much attention.

I've accomplished nothing with my life.

Tuitt may very well come back in 2014 to finish his degree, but Nix will already have his degree in hand. As we've discussed regarding Cierre's potential 5Y, coming back to finish one's degree and coming back for a superfluous 5Y are two very different things.

And Nix is honestly the best NT in the NCAA. He's 1st round talent. I'll just be grateful if he returns for 2013.

Think Whiskey nailed this one. 5th years are nice if one's trying to prove NFL talent/improve draft stock/get one last year of FB before moving on with life. For a 1st round talent, they don't make a whole lot of sense when you already have a degree. Furthermore, I think its been talked about a decent amount that Nix has a large family that he'd love to be able to help support.

don't you make videos?? that's something :awesomewo...but in all seriousness everyone accomplishes things in life we just don't always know we do it....you may have helped someone beyond belief but felt you did nothing....doesn't always have to have an award or attention to accomplish great things in life...one of the best things in life i am learning being a father of 4 is helping my 4 kids to be caring, compassionate, helpful and overall good human beings so they continue the cycle...this is one accomplishment i will wait my entire life to see how it plays out...but you won't find much better accomplishments than that! or one that is more gratifying

Yea if you think about it your really setting yourself up to leach off your parents into your mid 20s. In fact you should just drop out and go to trade school. or better yet just sit at home and do nothing and hang out on a message board.

Does anyone have any idea what is driving these kids? Has anybody seen the process put in place to build this team? Why would any of these kids who have found success way beyond what they would ever have expected leave that team when they don't have to?

They will have their degree and will have played for a national championship when each of their times come... maybe another championship might bring them back for their 5th years but I doubt it.

Tyler Eifert is in the same spot this year.

edit: Nix will have his degree and one year of eligibilty left, not Tuitt.

This.

Same reason Luck left with a year of eligibility remaining too.

...winning has helped Notre Dame a little and he still considers them at the top of his list.

“If I had a number one,” Redfield said, “it would be Notre Dame.”

If Kelly manages to get Max... man, oh man.

Actually Luck was very close to getting his degree when he left. He finished it over this past summer and was the reason he couldn't join the Colts for the mini-camps.

He's still basically saying Oregon is the favorite (bullshit) and that the only reason we'll land Max is because Chip will bolt for the NFL. It's pretty obvious Chip is going to the pros but I think we would have landed Max regardless.

It is?

There is a 99.9% chance Chip goes to the pros. The only thing that can stop it is Cowher, Gruden, Dungy, etc. coming out of retirement and not enough jobs being open so he doesn't see a great fit.... so basically no chance.

Also, the reason Chris Petersen isn't being mentioned a lot for the current openings is that he supposedly wants the Oregon job.

I saw the other day that Phil Knight supposedly has approved the current OC as the new HC if/when Chip leaves.

Saw this too. Apparently this was a main reason why Chip didn't go to the NFL. The AD wouldn't guarantee the OC would become the new HC.

All due respect to the AD but when it comes to Oregon football, Phil Knight has the final say.

For what it's worth, Bleacher Report is giving 8/5 odds he's Irish, with 6/1 for Oregon.
