This kid is fire. BK will figure out how to get him the touches. Start, or 2 deep, he'll be playing O game 1.

Honestly, I'm more excited about his return skills this year. Thinking the over/under should be 3 in terms of him taking it to the house! Book it.

Now THAT is a statement where you can come back and say "Told You So"

Exactly my friend. Don't think I didn't etch that in my brain to recall after the season! LOL. All good fun, but I truly believe this kid is special, and will produce as a frosh if he keeps his head screwed on the right direction.

I like the kids tape ALOT.
That said I am glad that BK is the coach and not fans like us. We would have 3-4 Frosh starters every year.

Notre Dame football: Kelly clears Rees for workouts -- for now - southbendtribune.com

"...Speaking of cornerbacks, Kelly said freshmen KeiVarae Russell and Davonte' Neal could both get a look at that position in August. The 6-0, 177-pound Russell was recruited as a running back, the 5-10, 175-pound Neal as a wide receiver. I think we've got to have all of the options open when we go into camp," Kelly said. "With those two kids in particular we've had conversations with them to be flexible.

"We're going to do what's best for our team. I think everybody knows where we need to continue to build some depth in certain areas. We're going to keep open-minded and give them an opportunity to compete."

Let the speculation begin... again.

Slot wr. Besides George Atkinson only guy who can bust a game open. Oregon and sc and west virgina have about ten of those guys. Needs be wr. If he wants to play corner sometimes by all means.

I agree 100%. I'm a big proponent of KR playing CB, but we need a guy like Neal needs to have the ball in this hands on offense.

I trust them too. Hopefully they are looking at the long term needs of the CB position and WR/RB/Slot position when making the call.

He's going to be a WR first I would bet. Playing any CB would just be "double duty" and I'd bet on Russel crosstraining over there more assuming this is a RS style year for him.

All of this is apt to change if Russel beats out Davonte in the slot... but I think that's bit unlikely at this point with how much more WR Davonte has played.... and I think it's safe to assume RB will be too hard to crack as a frosh.

I trust the coaches to, but I don't really like it. When stuff like this happens, I just think of Theo, who had massive potential coming out of high school, but was danced around from slot to RB and back. I'd rather see the kid stay at a position and learn it inside and out then possibly be bounced around and never grasp one. We shall see though.

Fixed. Sorry, usually not one to point out grammatical errors, but it has a totally different meaning otherwise.

If the coaches try him there and he shows lockdown potential, like his rating suggests, I'd be happy with the move.

Defense is so much more important when it comes to title runs.

Over thinking a comment.....

If ANY of the cbs get hurt Neal would have to at least cross train there. Hes a WR first then pending injuries he may get some reps at cb.

Maybe Neal plays CB this year and if he gets in on offense Amir won't be out there. So it will work out for both of them.

I know this is not likely just saying it is a possibility.
