(1) It's better than a 2012 committ because there is not 9 months of drama.
(2) LT- Heggarty, LG-Hanratty, C-Martin, RG-Carricio, RT- Prestwood, is a SOLID class (I think Martin should start snapping).
(3) It takes pressure off our OL and DL recruiting this year (Springmann can stay put) so we can hold out for studs.
(4) Maybe this is why we have been stingy with some offers at OL?

I know Hanratty has been practicing at Center in CT

We have a legit shot with Theus, Peat and Banner. If we land even one of them, how could a reasonable outside team not at our offense and defensive lines with envy?

Since he has to sit out, does it count against his eligibility? Or would it have to be a redshirt year if we want four years after this season?

The NCAA gives a recruit 5 years to use his 4 years of eligibility. The clock starts when you ENROLL in a 2 year or 4 year college. Whether you play as a Freshman, go JUCO, transfer, redshirt, or watch the grass grow the clock is ticking. For those going on a mission, the clock freezes during the mission. A 6th year to play 4 may be granted for medical reasons if approved by the NCAA. 5 to play 4.

AMENDED.

Don't forget Garnett.

Championships are won in the trenches, and we're one step closer now.

Truth.

I know I could probably find this if I was willing to look, but since I will probably be refreshing this page all night (like the rest of you) waiting to get some kind of sweet confirmation of goodness, I figure that I will just ask. How many OL are we taking this year? I hope Kelly makes it clear to Theus, Peat, Banner and Garnett that their offer is ticking and subject to who commits first. All of these guys are awesome talent, but if we are only taking say.. 3 linemen... then if we get to 2, then you better jump on the train if you want to come to Notre Dame.

btw... isn't it completly radical that I can say that with a straight face?

Bruce Lee actually helped Norris train in the early 70s during Chuck's 6 year world heavyweight champion reign...he never lost a fight...I gotta say that Bruce probably had alot to do with that.

Wait . . . Chick Norris actually fought people? Like, for real? I always thought that the whole "Chuck Norris" thing was just supposed to be humorous . . . like, "here's this small, unathletic-looking scrub, wouldn't it be funny if we made him beat people up in movies?!"

There is no way Chuck Norris has ever won a fight against a person that was trying. I would crush that guy.

I'm under the impression that we're going to take 3-4 OL in the 2012 class. I'd love to know if Prestwood's transfer changes that; though I have a hard time seeing us turning away any of those guys.

He just got his release today. He wants to transfer to ND, but he could only contact them for the first time officially today. This will take some time, as he has to clear admissions before this can move further. Bottom line is he wants ND, which is great news.

If it was 3-4 players, then I have to think that this turns into a 2-3 situation. Prestwood is as good a prospect as any of those guys and its essentially another lineman for this class, but he will see the field sooner than the rest of them. If I am Kelly, and I get one of those guys committed... then I am on the phone to let the others know that we plan on taking another WR (DGB!) and that an opportunity to play on this team is a self-destructing offer. Commit or prepare to eventually get decapitated by either Lynch or Teo.

Kelly: "Do you like the Pain Train?"
Recruit #3 - "No sir"
Kelly - "Then either commit or get life insurance"
Recruit #3 - ".... [/awkward silence].... where do I sign?"

Rivals stating he is transfering to ND. I do not have access but it seems to be a done deal.

They may be assuming (probably correctly) that ND will take Prestwood as a matter of course.

Eric Hansen article about this in the SB Trib.

“Jordan has long arms and he moves his feet well. He was one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the country in the 2011 recruiting cycle, and sitting out a year will really benefit him, because he played tight end in high school.”

Prestwood will have to sit out the 2011 season to satisfy NCAA transfer requirements. He’ll then start his NCAA clock in 2012, with four years of eligibility.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly is not allowed to comment on potential transfers until/unless they provide the school with a signed scholarship form. There seems little doubt, though, the transfer will happen – and happen soon.

“It’s like Notre Dame got the elite offensive tackle they were looking for, for their 2012 recruiting class,” Lemming said. “A lot of credit goes to (ND assistant coach) Tony Alford. When Prestwood flipped to Florida State, Alford handled it with class and wished him well. A lot of coaches would get mad and burn bridges under those circumstances.”

Don't worry about this. He was cleared to transfer months ago. He's a Golden Domer!
