As a casual observer, I'd be more inclined to watch a lot of these games if the defenders had more leeway protecting their goal inside the box. Twice already I've seen a goal gifted to a team by either no contact, or a very small amount of it. These coaches have to flip the fuck out every game.

My dad has long said the offsides rule will forever prevent soccer from really growing in The States... to me this is a bigger problem... flopping and shafty calls like we have seen turns the average, would be, American fan off more than anything else...

This seems to be the story in every major championship. Games decided by phantom penalties or missed offsides calls.

I think they need to implement a replay system for goal-scoring plays that were called offside or for ANY penalty kick awarded. Games are only 2 hours long as it is...I don't think it would be a big deal.

I hardly ever root for my 'home country' USA. Why? They never have a shot. 2010 was cool for a while with the stunning comebacks by Donavan. I'll pull if they do good but otherwise.
Lets go Argentina...then Chile if they have a shot. Colombia too but they aint got no chance.

Also, can someone fill me in on the Mexico hate? Not clear on a reason why you all hate em so much.

Do you hate USC or Michigan? That is why. They are our biggest rival. They owned us at the beginning but we have been dominating them of late(12-5-5 in the last 22). They are the dirtiest scumbag players I have ever witnessed play soccer. The US and Mexico have come close to brawls multiple times.

Was not impressed with Spain v El Salvador friendly at Fedex last weekend. I just assumed it was due to ES playing 10 in the box, but not impressed at all with their performance. Expected more.
