Just rewatched the entire game from DVR.
1.) Someone PLEASE tell Atkins and Grant that sometimes, well, just make the "easy" play. They try to make the exceptional pass way to often.
2.) When Cooley and Auguste are on the court at the same time, we need to take advantage of the Auguste mismatch. He had a great dribble drive 3pt play, and then we ignored him. There were a few times he had a guy 4-5 inches shorter than him pinned down, and the ball on his side of the court, and it's like it was too easy a pass for our guards to consider making.
3.) We really need Martin back from a defensive standpoint.
4.) We are a "deep" team from a player perspective, but not with regards to potential line-ups. Some of the combinations Brey is putting out there really limit us.
I would love to see this Monday game at Pitt be Auguste's coming out party. Let him bang with Adams (I think it's his name). Let him and Cooley play off each other in the post. I'd love to see what happens when we get away from this dribble-drive-watch offense and play through the post.
Oh, and I agree with other posters in this thread. Our 2-3 is garbage. I watched I believe Valpo play some yesterday and they played a bunch of 2-3. It was amazing how active the zone was. The didn't let the guy in the middle of the zone have his way, they moved around. They pressured.
Edit: Oh, and wanted to say this as well. Beichied will be a player (I can't spell his last name, sorry). He'll be good. But, channeling my inner Beano Cook, Zach Auguste will be a 2-time BE First Team selection.
