Dublin, is that something you saw before you moved to the states? Maybe it’s only on PSN for PS4 in Europe?

Thinking of getting an Xbox Design Lab controller for Christmas. Thoughts? The triggers and D-pad are metallic gold.

SOS. Had a PS3 disaster a few weeks ago. My one-year-old yanked it off the stand while I had a game running and busted up the inside pretty good I guess.

I pulled the hard drive out and cleared out some dust, got the system working again for a few weeks. However, my disc drive is starting to fail. It either doesn’t read the disc, or else it stops reading the disc after I’ve fired up a game.

I YouTubed all the videos on cleaning/replacing the Blu-ray lenses, but I’d rather just pay someone some cash for a used system, since I’d likely be paying ~$40 for a new disc drive anyway.

Anybody got an old PS3 that they don’t play anymore and might be willing to sell? I trust you guys more than I do Facebook marketplace.

I will add that I DO have a PS4, but I still play NCAA 14 a lot, so I want to keep a PS3 handy if possible.

FWIW, I had to replace the disc drive on my PS3 a few months back. It's not that bad at all to replace, just a few cables come out and you swap the boards. Just make sure you save the old board to the original disk drive because it has to stay with the machine, won't work otherwise. My new drive works great.

you can get ncaa14 on your ps4 for cheaper than it costs to buy a second hand ps3. probably lose your saved data though right?

Wait... you can get NCAA14 for ps4?

yes its in the psn store for like 15 bucks i think..

This though....how long has THIS been going on?! I mean, I have plenty of games that I need my PS3 for still, but I'm guessing NCAA14 will run much better on the PS4 and I probably won't get the lockups that I get on my PS3. I'm looking into this ASAP.

Well I opened up my PS3 to see if a lens cleaning would work. Thing was NASTY on the inside. So much dust. Gave the inside a good cleaning with compressed air, opened the disk drive case, which was perfectly protected and spotless, but I cleaned the blu-ray lenses anyway to see if it would work. No such luck. Put the PS3 back together, and the disc drive still won't spin/read my games.

As for switching boards, I didn't think that was a requirement? One video I watched said it wasn't necessary, while another gave instructions on doing so. Maybe it depends on the model? I think I have the 250gb slim, but I'll have to double-check when I get home.

Either way, I jacked my little brother's Super Slim from him to use for now. He's on PS4 exclusively, so he had his PS3 sitting in a drawer uplugged for over a year.

The only hiccup I experienced when copying my NCAA14 files to his PS3 was the fact that a new PS3 won't recognize an NCAA player profile from a different machine. Lost all my trophies and achievements :-( Dynasty and roster files transport just fine, though

I think Dublin lied to us, or else its a Europe-PSN exclusive. I checked their website and the PSN store on my PS4, and didn't see anything.

Yeah, I have one of the original PS3's, the ones that are backwards compatible with PS1/PS2 games. Maybe that's why I had to switch the board in mine, dunno. I do know that it's working much better afterwards and it's running like a champ. Dunno about the slim, but it was very easy to do it in the bigger model. It just required pulling off the outer case, pulling a few cables/ribbons from the drive, removing a few screws, and we were ready to go. Sounds like you have a different option now though by using your bro's machine.

Been playing this, got it on sale for $10 and it has definitely been worth it. Fun little time waster, plays just like the old days! It has updates though like different players, different fighting styles, and a more in depth story.

Does he still main Genji, or has he moved on since the nerfs?

He doesn't main him anymore but Genji is still in his rotation when he gets good in the meta. That guy was a huge reason for the nerfs themselves. He was a big public face of the game and could take over matches so easily with that moveset. Incredible to watch. I dont know how he had the spacial awareness to do some of the shit he did.

I did a bad thing...

I’ve had Pokémon Moon on deck for a while, but decided I would beat Pokémon HeartGold first, then switch gears to AC: Origins on PS4, then go back to gameboy and play Moon.

However, I discovered Pokémon Bank, which allows you to transfer Pokémon to the newest games from the older ones.

Long story short, I used a glitch to catch a legit Mew in Pokémon Red. The problem is that Pokémon Bank will deny the Mew, not recognizing it as legit. I was all jacked up to put Mew into Sun/Moon and use it as the base of my party.

I have since discovered that you can essentially hack the original Pokémon games to do almost anything. You have to overflow the stacks in your “item bag” and then locate an item in the games code called “8F”

Once you have 8F, and you have a particular party of Pokémon selected, you can use various inventory setups to make the game do all kinds of shit. So, I legitimized my Mew, which will now be recognized as compatible with Pokémon Bank, and I also made it one of the rare shiny versions.

I fear I will now fall down the rabbit hole, using 8F within Pokémon Red to catch, legitimize, and shinyize all 150 original Pokémon, so I can then begin building a complete collection in the newest game.

I feel deep in the original Destiny. I bought all the expansions, sunk hundreds of hours into it, and then realized when all my friends stopped playing it, that the whole value of the experience for me was doing all the challenging raids and strikes with friends. Once that was gone I said what the hell am I doing this for and I promised I would never get sunk it o and MMO like that again. And so far I have not bought Destiny 2. As tempting as it is, I'm trying to stick to my word and not get sucked back into Destiny.

Besides I'm thoroughly occupied with a stardew Valley and AC Origins at the moment. And I have MARIO Oddysey on deck at Christmas.

Enjoying?

I finally ponied up and built a gaming PC. It's a smallish box that's a bit larger than a console, looks like a subwoofer. I play using a wireless mouse and keyboard that I keep in a coffee table drawer when not in use. Honestly the thing I've enjoyed the most is how cheap games are on it. Between Steam, GoG, Greenmangames, and cdkeys, pretty much every game, even brand new ones, are on sale for $30 or less somewhere.
