So I played the shit out of BF1, and there's technically loot boxes for purchase, but you only get gun skins, melee weapon puzzle pieces, and xp buffs. But you can still unlock all of the guns, and earn loot boxes just from playing the game to get all of that content.

So what exactly is the big issue with SWBF2 compared to BF1? I read there is some weird "card" system that has perks attached to it. Do those cards only last 1 round of multiplayer and then they are used up and gone? And why is everyone freaking out over the loot boxes in this game? Are you really not able to unlock everything just by playing the actual game?

Lastly, I can't stand the mobile phone clicker games. I used to play clash of clans and my wife plays this Disney Magic kingdom builder clicker game. And I just came to the realization that theres literally no end game to these things. They just occupy your time, they arent very satisfying.

You can. It's been estimated that you can unlock everything (In the base game at launch) with 3,111 hours of play...or $2100.

So? Vader SHOULD be able to one-hit any random rebel soldier. The point is, every person has equal access to play as Vader. If you think Vader is powerful, get the token drop yourself.

Scenario 1: Heroes are very strong and everyone has an equal shot to play as them.

Scenario 2: Heroes are somewhat weaker but you have to grind for hours and hours to even unlock them in the first place. People who pay for loot boxes get them immediately.

Scenario 2 seriously seems better to you?

I have about 60 hours into Battlefront and I've never encountered anything like that. You shouldn't be able to 1v1 the heroes with your standard troops, the entire team needs to focus fire.

No 2 is better to me, but again, I am a newb at these types of games as I took a 10 year hiatus. And no, you dont have equal shot at getting the power ups. That is just false. Where you spawn, how many players you are with,....

I dont know how many hours but its waaaayyyyy more than 60 and I see it happen all the time.

It's the fact that, if you don't want to pay, you'll have to put in a ridiculous amount of time into the game (more than others), and if you do so, you can be at a severe disadvantage compared to a person who just purchases the upgrades and such anyway.

Plus the game has a cool down period so you can't even play arcade mode (I believe) until after a certain amount of hours.

I dont like this. This is real BS.

IDK why wiz is so fired up about the first statement though. That is pure Libertarianism at its core. LOL.

I could just see wiz geeking over being able to be a Libertarian Specialist on Kashykk

So they lock you out of a specific multiplayer game mode after you play it......? Fucking what???? What the hell is EA trying to accomplish with that?

There's a loot box that lets you play a multiplayer mode, without it being deactivated by a cool down...? What kind of madness is this?

Is the story campaign good atleast?

The problem is, they don't want you earning too many credits just playing in the single player arcade mode. You know, those credits that unlock everything they are forcing you to get. They want as many as possible playing multiplayer, where you won't have the cool down. Great... However, many people ACTUALLY enjoy playing a campaign mode/single player. Yet, they have basically stripped that down to almost nothing.

Apparently the single player campaign will be super short (not surprising) because they only really want people playing online multiplayer/buying loot boxes.

Oh is the arcade mode the old school, you pick the factions, heros you want, and then you just play against a bunch of bots? I used to play the shit out of that mode back in the day on the original 2 SWBF games.

Wiz knows more, but I believe yes.

Got a SNES Classic this morning. It's going under the x mas tree for me which is fine, but come December 26th I'm hacking the ever loving stuffing out of this thing and adding the games I want and the game genie hack...

And thus my SNES reclamation project shall be complete:

Collecting is far more rewarding, and you know it.

I've collected tons... it's more important at the NES level for me with the inserts and boxes and such (Dragon Warrior games being a prime example)... for SNES I'll be super stoked with a digital PilotWings, Castlevania 4, Super Metriod, PunchOut, Baseball Simulator 100 and Super Tecmo Bowl so long as I can game genie them. Don't be jelly....

You can continue playing arcade mode but it stops paying credits.

I used to play FPS games on PC years ago, but haven't played on PC in a very long time. I don't like FPS games on a console because I am used to being able to quickly aim using my mouse, rather than the clunky joystick on a console.

That being said, I'm a mark for the SWBF games (1 and 2) - I love star wars so much, just the opportunity to play these characters and fly around in the different SW vehicles is enough for me...and I love it. I'm not an FPS game player, so any of the shortcomings with the SWBF games just doesn't effect me. I'll simply play the game long enough until I'm bored with it.

When I need to feel like playing a real game, I go back to playing EA NHL18 on Xbone, and supporting my game server (PC - mmorpg).

SWBF2 is a guilty pleasure that cost me the $70-something I paid for the deluxe edition

How is NHL this year TDJ? The reviews are eh but it looks decent. I was a huge NHLer for years there but haven't played one since the one that had Wayne and Mario in it...

Wife got me a Nintendo Switch for my Bday! Zelda breath of the Wild. Played it for about 20 hours, it's the greatest game I've ever played and makes you feel like you're twelve years old all over again!

Great game. Not very "Zelda" in that it doesn't really feel like a Zelda game to me, but definitely a top tier game. Probably No. 3 on the year for me behind Persona 5 and Mario Odyssey.

Odyssey worth it then I assume?? Can you give me a brief breakdown of it...? It's an open world Mario basically?? Is it still the age old battling Bowser story line or is it completely up to you what the story is??

SOS. Had a PS3 disaster a few weeks ago. My one-year-old yanked it off the stand while I had a game running and busted up the inside pretty good I guess.

I pulled the hard drive out and cleared out some dust, got the system working again for a few weeks. However, my disc drive is starting to fail. It either doesn’t read the disc, or else it stops reading the disc after I’ve fired up a game.

I YouTubed all the videos on cleaning/replacing the Blu-ray lenses, but I’d rather just pay someone some cash for a used system, since I’d likely be paying ~$40 for a new disc drive anyway.

Anybody got an old PS3 that they don’t play anymore and might be willing to sell? I trust you guys more than I do Facebook marketplace.

I will add that I DO have a PS4, but I still play NCAA 14 a lot, so I want to keep a PS3 handy if possible.

I think my wife sold it but I'll double check. May have one stored somewhere.

Not open world in that way. It's actually a very traditional Mario game, like Mario 64. You are basically put in a level and there are Moons to collect. You collect a certain number of them and you can move on to the next world. The game is fun but not at all challenging to beat (which makes sense since Mario is always going to be designed for the kid picking up a game for the first time). But you only need 170 Moons to beat the game and there are 800-ish moons in the game. So the game really doesn't start until you beat it and go back to the old worlds to collect. The big thing is the game play and level design. Mario's moveset is bonkers and levels are almost always designed so that there is an easy way to do something, or a hard way.

This guy does a pretty good job of showing what I'm talking about. It's like there's a game for kids and a game for adults coexisting. There's always an easy way and a ridiculous way to do everything and he shows some good examples : https://youtu.be/pLl7lbbpjig

you can get ncaa14 on your ps4 for cheaper than it costs to buy a second hand ps3. probably lose your saved data though right?

So, I'm a Die Hard Assassins Creed Fan, and AC Origins is the first game in the series I did not buy day 1 since AC 2. Mainly because I just had a baby 8 weeks ago, and I am insanely busy at work this time of year. But I found that Walmart Black Friday sale price for AC Origins is $29.99, so I talked the wife into letting me buy it. My plan is to binge play it before Christmas, because I'm getting Mario Odyssey as a gift. Needless to say, I'm excited as hell and I just wanted to share that with everyone who is playing Origins. I'm crazy excited for the Alexandria and Greek and Roman dynamic in the game.
