I love when we drive somewhere and it takes five minutes for everyone to get out of the car after I park. WTF did you pack of knobs think was happening next when I positioned the car in a parking space, put the car in park and turned off the engine?!?? Wifey is the worst about this. Drives me bonkers.
Ha. There are 5 of us. 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 younger kids. I will pull in, park, have the youngest get out of his car seat, but I still just sit there waiting on everyone else. The wife, and sometimes an older kid, will look at me and ask if I'm getting out. Yet nobody else in the truck has even removed a seatbelt. So I'll proceed to exit the vehicle and get the youngest out too. Him and I then stand for a legit 2+ minutes awaiting the rest of the family to exit the vehicle. The same people that were wondering why I wasn't out of the vehicle yet.

You're their pied piper! I've tried waiting in the car for my wife and she pulls the same thing, "You getting out?" Yes dear, just waiting for you instead of milling around the car for two minutes. lol

Decking is hard to find at a big box store. Home Depot had the best options near me and I went through five pallets to find enough decent pieces to build a 120 square foot deck. Kinda ridiculous. They had "premium" boards that would have made it easier but it was for a rental and I wanted to keep the price down. I agree with you on Lowes lumber - it stinks.

Menards drives me nuts and I'll only go there to buy the basics, i.e., screws, nails, nuts/bolts, electric wire/fixtures, simple plumbing, lumber (especially cheap trim) etc. I will never buy another power tool or wireless tool from that place, though. It's always an issue and they aren't as customer friendly as Home Depot with returns/exchanges.

Kinda off topic but Home Depot reduces a ton of lumber to 70% off each week and they set it off to the side. Some of it is absolute garbage but most can be used. Given the price of lumber, it's a great deal for anyone who does small renovations to their home, rental property, or basic woodworking as a hobby. I stock up on 2x4, 2x6, 2x8 and select pine boards and put them in storage. It's saved me quite a bit.

HD has everyone over the balls when it comes to returns. I had bought a small Porter Cable compressor from HD to use at the old house I'm remodeling. It quit after about six months. I called the store, told them I didn't have the receipt as it was six months ago when I had purchased it. They told me to come in and swap it out, no charge.

Idiots that don't know how to use a round about.

I love the guy that gets into the circle and then thinks he has to yield to everyone OUTSIDE of the circle.

I also love the girl (it's always a girl, let's be real) who is too scared to enter the roundabout, even when she has plenty of opportunities.

When shit gets stuck in your head and you can't figure out where it came from. Help me out:

"You like [BLANK]!? How can you like [BLANK]?"

EDIT: GOT IT! The Office, season 2, episode 16. Craig from Albany to Michael. "You like Jan? How can you like Jan?"

You're supposed to just blow right through them and make everyone else slam on their brakes, right?

That's the one I'm talking about, someone who waits until there's no cars in sight. About ten years ago when roundabouts just started getting installed around here, I'm on my way to the doctor. I come upon a roundabout and this elderly gentleman was waiting and finally entered the round about. I was far enough back that I saw him go around a couple of times. I'm in the waiting room waiting for the doctor, when about 20 minutes later in walks the same gentleman. I laughed to myself wondering how many times he went around before he figure how to exit the round about?

I love my parish, but the people there are not very good about making room for others at times. Yesterday was First Communion (a topic for another day) and I had completely forgotten about it, so I arrived at my normal time. Not only could I not park in the lot, but I and about 20 other people had to stand the whole Mass, because heaven forbid that people actually need to sit close to each other. It was nice to see so many people at Mass, but etiquette still applies.

I work on a college campus, and there is one roundabout that sees heavier traffic than the others on campus, as it has three exits that all lead to major highways. Combine the heavier traffic with the standard 4:30pm rush when most classes AND work are out for the day, and it gets bad. But that's the point of a traffic circle... even heavy traffic times are supposed to operate smoothly and eliminate some of the issues that come with stop signs and stoplights.

A few months ago, I was at my exit, waiting to jump in. The next exit over, there is a girl waiting to jump in, as well. Except she looks terrified, and it's obvious that she refuses to try her luck because there is a line of 50+ cars behind her, stretching back up the road as far as the eye can see. It was almost unbelievable, as if her car was stalled and everyone was stuck.

So, once I got my chance, I broke the cardinal rule (and risked getting rear-ended) to completely stop just before her exit, while in the roundabout, and waving frantically for her to get in. She at first shook her head "no" and tried to wave me on, but I gave her the "seriously, get the f*ck into the roundabout" look and wave, and she finally put her foot on the gas.

I'd like to think that all of the people stuck in line behind her applauded me that day for noticing their plight and taking action.

(It's also very possible that this was a case of road rage/revenge, and that someone behind her had pissed her off, and she was waiting as long as she possibly could just to aggravate them.)

I seriously don't understand the thinking behind driving like a bat out of hell to pass me just so you can slam on your brakes 3 seconds later to take an exit. Why not just slow down and fall in behind me and take the exit? It's not like I'm a slow driver they need to get around. I'm habitually 5-10 mph over the limit.

I know how, but I sometimes just go round & round because I tend to get distracted by the lake and the mountains that come out of the sky and just stand there.

When people post Happy Birthday Messages to their kids on social media when their 3 year old obviously doesn't have social media..

People complaining about politics??

More meta: people complaining about people complaining about politics.

Seriously, I was just giving Eville a hard time. I actually terminated my account because I was tired of the bullshit as well (all kinds). By checking facebook, I was giving people a soapbox/podium and I became overwhelmed.

I can look at instagram photos or read random tweets but Facebook became a toxic thing for me. I never closed Facebook feeling better so it was time to stop.

The revival of the pets thread brought to mind another thing that grinds my gears.

People who don't have kids but act like having a house cat is exactly the same thing as having an ACTUAL human child in terms of stress / cost / love / commitment / burden. You're not a fucking mom, you're just a sad lonely person.

My wife caught a bunch of harassment on Facebook the other day from some crazy dog moms for a similar reason.

Someone posted in a local "Pet Owners" group about how their dog escapes the yard and isn't affected by the electric fence/shock collar anymore, and asked for advice on how to deal with a dog that likes to escape.

Some crazy dog lady commented and started abusing the guy about how having a pet isn't a luxury, and that if you aren't capable of watching your pet for 20 minutes while they're outside, then you shouldn't have the pet in the first place. (These points do have merit, but the perspective is coming.)

My wife commented to the guy, not the crazy lady, telling him that we have a husky that likes to escape, but also loves to be outside, so it's impossible to watch her 100% of the time, especially with a human baby in the house. My wife gave some advice on how to keep her content with the yard, to try and curb the dog's desire to go explore outside of it. She also suggested one of those zipline runs that allow your dog to pretty much move anywhere while still on a physical leash.

Crazy dog lady then starts in on my wife, talking about how the dog deserves as much attention and care as the human baby, and how no dog should be outside for long stretches, and that the dog is NOT a luxury.

My wife's response, copied from Facebook: "I used to agree. But now that I change dirty diapers and keep Oragel in my pocket for a teething baby, having the time to sit and watch my dog take a pee IS a luxury. Plus, I don't have to feed my dog from a bottle every three hours. She's okay in the yard by herself for half an hour."

Then a bunch of other crazy animal people started debating eachother on the merits of letting the dog roam the yard without direct supervision, and started fighting with each other.

Yup, our generation has an insane obsession, near fetishization, with pets, especially dogs. My sister literally carries her mini husky like it's a baby, because she has conditioned it to behave like a POS until it's held.

The word "furbabies" should die, and all who use it should be watched very carefully for mental health reasons.

Seriously - people that take their dogs to the grocery store. Last week a lady had her dog sitting in the back of the grocery cart. I really don't want to be the next person to use that cart and put my vegetables where you dogs dirty ass has been.
