That's like when you're at a football game, and someone wants to get up and walk by you in the middle of a play. Drives me crazy.

Related: I have season tix to UC football, and the people that sit behind us and next to us usually arrive late. So for the first half of the first quarter every week, people are constantly picking our row to get through, even if their seats are several rows away, just because it's the first open space they see to travel through. Chaps my ass.

Want me to tell you how to fix that problem?

Which problem?

The one with people getting up in the middle of plays, the one where everyone picks our row to go through, or the one where I pay money to watch UC play football?

Cruising metropolitan Mayberry, got behind a car doing 15mph in a 35 zone. He/She is probably drunk, crossing the center line, hitting the brakes randomly.

The bad part was a Moped was riding my ass. A MOPED!!

People who walk three abreast on a sidewalk and then don't move out of the way as you approach them. Especially on city sidewalks, but it is equally if not more annoying on bike paths and such.

I had an incident today where I was running up behind some women on a path by my office and said the traditional "on your left"... one of them turns around and looks at me, none of them even attempt to move out of the way. So I have to run into the street to get around them... fine. No big deal.

On the way back the same women are there. They see me approaching head on this time on my side of the path and just do not make any attempt to get out of the way or use half of the path. So I basically run into the one on my side of the path and she gets all pissed off.

How fucking stupid and self-centered do you have to be to think you have a right to take up the entire path and it's everyone else's job to get out of the way?

^Is also literally what I said to the person, to which she replied "deal with it", to which I replied with a middle finger.

In these situations, I like to just stop and stare until they're awkwardly forced to move out of the way.

Shit like that is an epidemic on college campuses... all the frat boys and sorostitutes walk in packs, and expect you to walk through the grass when you pass them.

Also happens with administrators when they walk campus during meetings, trying to look important.

Bitch, share the fuckin' footpath.

Nah it just doesn't bother me. If they did it to a kid I'd get in their face.

Employees who quit without notice.

We need to do an upgrade. I have someone who is responsible for the upgrade. Been with the company for 13 years. He builds a test environment and everything works. So he does the upgrade. It's successful, except we find that two ancillary programs won't run even though they were okay in the test environment, so we back out the upgrade. I give my guy a couple of weeks to figure out the problem. He's ready to do the upgrade again. Saturday night he calls and says he has the same problem. It's midnight so I tell him to go home get some rest and rollback the change on Sunday. Sunday night at 9:30 he calls and says everything is rolled back and everything is working. He then says, "I've left my keys on your desk. I'm done with this."

I tell him to take Monday off and lets talk on Tuesday. The dude won't answer his phone or reply to my text. Couldn't give me two weeks notice or at least tell me face to face.

I've never understood this. I can't tell you that I know of a single person who left for a new job on the condition that they start immediately. Most friends/colleagues just do this because they're afraid of bringing it up, or they hated their job and want to piss off their boss. Sorry dude.

Slightly related: I don't understand people who quit jobs just because they got bored. I know people that have quit jobs just because they got bored and then they dick around for weeks until getting another very similar job. Makes no sense to me

I always kind of found it odd that employers are never expected to give warning/notice when they cut people lose, just show up one day, "Bye, hope you land on your feet"... but it's some damning thing when an employee up and leaves for another job.

I have always lived by this quote from my mom (who ironically worked for the same company for 35 years).

"Never overestimate the arrangement you have with your employer, because it is indeed an arrangement, not a relationship"

Pretty sure he didn't leave for another job. His specialty is a software package that not many around Indy use. He's in his late 50's so landing something else is going to be tricky. He's one that tends to internalize things and I'm sure he put a lot of pressure on himself. I've done a number of things for him the last couple of years that have made his life a lot easier. His salary went up $10K and I was very lenient with his work hours. I'm not pissed, but given those things plus getting him more involved in projects (his request) along with other things, you'd think he would at least be thankful and give me some respect by talking to me.

The two weeks would have been nice so we could learn where he keeps all of his reports, scripts, etc.

I got that... not arguing or trying to be contrarian... just never liked the double standard there... I've been screwed over in the past when someone from another department just up and left.

Just blowing off some steam...

Damn I hate the kids that are joining the military. These kids think that they are owed something and that everything should be given to them. Can't believe that some of them have never had a job before they joined. What the hell is this world coming to.

Everyone can't get a damn trophy!

Yes I feel a little better now!

When you're presenting a redesign of an existing publication to a small unit out of courtesy, since it has already been approved and lauded by the notoriously difficult company-wide marketing people, only for one member to debate every aspect of said redesign for no other reason than to be difficult and hear themselves speak.

If any other person had voiced similar concerns, I may have given the benefit of the doubt (though the concerns are unfounded/addressed). But it's that ONE person who always has an objection to everything, ever.

They do very specialized work that they are passionate about. And they are actually very reasonable company outside of formal meeting settings.

But for whatever reason, once they get into a formal meeting or committee setting, they challenge every.single.thing.

Perhaps they feel the need to ensure that all problems are accounted for. I could appreciate that, if it weren't so needless, and so common, and if most things weren't already approved by a higher authority in the first place.

identity politics.

I'm sorry, but individual rights outweigh equality of outcome.

EDIT: I do apologize for going political, my intent was not to debate. I just quickly answered the thread title's question.
