Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA. Very excited to try this not because I think it will be great but because of how they are extracting the hop oil. I love innovation.
Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA from Distilled Hops - Beer Street Journal

N: Huge burst of citrus then dank hops with some pine and light malt.
P: Dank hops, some citrus, light malt (kind of like a saltine cracker)
F: Dank hops are still there but the citrus has just about pulled even (mostly on grapefruit, and grapefruit peel) and just a touch of the malt in the background.

Definitely has an oily texture. I think it is a good to very good IPA (but nowhere near great) at a great price ($7.50 for a 6-pack here). Would be good on a hot summers day.

Drinking Shorts brewing Goodnight Bodacious, a double India style black ale. Pretty delicious. Also had some whiskey from Traverse city whiskey company.....very good.

Ninkasi Dawn of the Red. They are calling it an IRA (India Red Ale). Love me some Hoppy Reds

One of the best smelling beers I have had in a long time (loads of tropical fruits (mango, pineapple, papaya along with citrus). Unfortunately the taste is just good. Still not bad considering that the 22oz bottle cost $4.50.

Going to Lost Abbey's tasting room for one Judgement Day, one Angel's Share and one Cuvee de Tomme if a available. Lost Abbey is in Stone's original digs. Never been there.... Excited to see where Stone started and I'm thirsty.

Those are three really good beers. I also really like Deliverance and Serpents Stout. Now you are making me thirsty.

Do you like New Belgium offerings in general? Or just this and the Trippel?

I do like New Belgium. Along with Sierra Nevada, I'd say it's one of the best "value" breweries out there. Abbey and Trippel are my favorites, but Fat Tire is a reliable (and ubiquitous) option, and some of their Lips of Faith offerings are very good.

SUCKS.

Found out that the next Enjoy By will be 3.14.15 (with a pi symbol on the bottle!). Stone is also coming out with an extra hoppy Old Guardian next week. Looking forward to both.

This is why I post and read in this thread, to learn.

In your honor, I got a Port Brewing Shark Attack Double Red Ale.

Very Good. I'm not usually a Red guy but that was good. After some painting on the house today, Going to Pizza Port to score a wheel and some IPA's. Also want to try the Brown Ale called Board Meeting, people talk about like Sculpin and Enjoy By.

I'll gladly swing by and post an eval on that Old Guardian. Mo Hops... Mo Betta.

For the record, I never said there was anything wrong with being drunk!!!! If I weren't on call this week, I'd be drinking plenty of Miller Lite!

There's nothing wrong with being drunk. There is something wrong with using Miller Lite to do it.

I prefer Sam Adams, but the Miller Lite was free, but I do prefer it over most other Lite beers.

1) There is absolutely nothing wrong with Miller Lite. It is my favorite cheap beer, and I like it in a huge mug with a few olives in it (because I'm so f-cking fancy)

*Sorry, couldn't resist. Had to do it after the last post!

I prefer even cheaper "full bodied" beers.

Have you tried cocktail onions in your beer?

A bit more expensive but worth it in light of the price differential between national name/advertising versus sorta local.

I figured you of all people would appreciate a "Minnesota Martini"

You call that fancy? I drink it in a damn champagne glass---it's the champagne of beers after all.
