Stealing this from a Texas board. Vote is public. Feel free to explain your reasons. I will be doing a customized poll every week.

Go Irish. Beat Longhorns.

Texas offense struggles. and finishes single digits. Irish get two turnovers on D, probably Jaylon...

Notre Dame Offense starts slow and runs up to a ~28 point finish with some big plays from Zaire and Robinson.

I'm waiting to see if we get redface angry Kelly (like we had with Tommy) or if we get calm and relaxed Kelly (like we had with Everett).

Irish by 14. UT are gonna need some takeaways and a few lucky plays to stay in it I think. ND will get on them early and the Longhorns OL will struggle with the Irish blitz

After we get our opening drive timeout to avoid a delay of game penalty out of our system, we'll be fine.

We start slow and are down at half - the IE gameday thread goes ballistic - MZ settles down in the second half - ND goes crazy and buries the Horns.

Go Irish!

Both teams have poorly timed turnovers keeping this close in the first half. Defense makes big stop and O has a nice drive at end of game for a FG win.

28-17. Irish struggle early but pull away vs an improved Texas squad. Offense doesn't look great but gets the job done.

Though they will give us headaches, we win by 13. Malik throws an interception giving way for one jackass to say we need Everett back(or Wimbush).

I can't wait for the first idiot who predicts a MZ Heisman after two series.

ND makes Texas look bad prompting every TV talking head to claim Texas is horrible this year, giving ND zero credit. Texas goes on to finish top 3 in the Big 12 and end the season as a consensus "return to glory" story.

Sorry, had to be done. Actually surprised it wasn't done sooner. Must be getting too many youngsters on the site anymore.

I don't think it ever looks like a curb stomping, but by the end of the game ND will have built a 17 point lead. ND 31 Texas 14

I would love to predict a huge Irish win, but I think we will struggle early. I.E. will blowup with freakouts by halftime, but we will settle down late and win by a touchdown or so.

27-9. Not sure if I think we're going to kick two FGs or miss an extra point...

I think the early game woes are solved with a run first approach. We can grind out a monster game and sprinkle in a few big plays to keep voters interested. Our D is potentially top 10 this year, if they are they should keep Texas in single digits. If not, they could still keep them in single digits.

34 - 21

We'll give up some big plays but we'll also make some. Ultimately the defense forces a turnover late and then we grind it out with a final scoring drive.

Vote: ND wins by 11-20.

It is certainly a challenge (understated by the actual presence of significant talent at Texas) of having an unknown entity to prepare for, however, it takes several years to create the proper culture required to win consistently. Charlie Strong will get it right.. just not this year. I'm concerned about playing them next year based on the attrition we'll see through graduation and early entry to the draft. There's too much talent on defense this year for us not to be able to dictate our style of play. I'll be in attendance for the first time after being a lifelong fan... Go Irish.

Lights are too bright for a talented young Texas team. BVG brings the pain on those two poor freshman OL.

I'm all in on this year.

and our resident pessimist Phork predicting a 21+ point victory?

What Bizzaro-World have we slipped into?

I have been drinking the kool-aid for 3 years now bro, where you been?

PS: This is BKs last chance for me. Either ND is playoff bound (or close to it) or we have to accept that 8-4 is all we are getting.

I would be more concerned with Golson under center. I think Malik protects the ball better and recovers faster if there is a turnover or stalled drives. Texas D will be good but they have some reloading to do:

* DT Malcolm Brown: No. 32 overall, New England Patriots
* LB Jordan Hicks: No. 84 overall, Philadelphia Eagles
* S Mykkele Thompson: No. 144, New York Giants
* CB Quandre Diggs: No. 200, Detroit Lions
* TE Geoff Swaim: No. 246, Dallas Cowboys

I know we had some growing pains when Louis Nix III moved on, will be interesting to see how they in their first game without their Nix equivalent.

I don't see where Texas has the experience or speed, at any position.

I think that Kelly is going to be able to craft adjustments to anything Texas can do, complete with the right personnel packages.

If ND comes out quick, which I think they have the best chance to do since Kelly has been coach, I think it will be over . . .

"ND gonna run away with it!"

I think that first sentence is very important. When all else fails, Malik's willingness and talent running the football can prevail. That was not there last year with Golson. That will make a world of difference, especially when we need to give the D a break and/or control the clock.
