They passed on Daniels already, if they go after someone else it might be Tyree Robinson.

Hard to say, with the scholarship reductions they have legit cause to be pissed at the kid for camping at Tennessee of all places.

Why would they be pissed? What if he tore it at The Opening or one of those events? I'm guessing you are a Southern Cal fan. Enjoy your time here because you won't be around long.

Don't even bother responding to this guy... has there ever been a more clear troll than a USC fan who registers with the name "Iknowmorethanyou"?

camping at the opening is free, its fully paid for by Nike and does not involved being recruited by other coaches.

taking a three day unofficial visit to a camp at tennessee while supposedly being committed to another school is very different.

Does a redshirt senior that still has a year of eligibility, but has graduated academically, transferring out of their program free up a schollie?

As far as the 75 limit, sure. But the 15 per year limit - no. And next year, since they are filling up this year, will be a hard 15 no matter what (unless they get a decommit on signing day and they fall short. This year they are able to get 18 because they didn't fill up last year, but that won't be the case next year.

Also, they'll get their 17th verbal when Louisville (Ky.) four-star defensive end Jason Hatcher commits to them this coming Friday. But with so many of their verbals committed to taking OVs this fall, their list will look different in February than it does now, guaranteed. If they win big, their list might even look scarier believe it or not. But with so many of their verbals being OOS guys, they will be inundated by their local schools trying to get a crack, and guys will definitely decommit. At least 2 IMO...

Thanks L.A. I was reading an article on fox sports that made it seem like T.J. Bryant's transfer would free up a spot for them this fall. Which, if I understand correctly, it will in fact do, BUT, they will not be able to add to their haul because of the hard limits on their annual class for the next couple of years.

Lets ask a question here. How has a school with a new GM ( thats right GM ) and is losing scholarships bring his Rhodes Scholarship @#$ to his alma mater and not miss a beat in recruiting while on NCAA probation/sanctions. Answer-because nothing has changed people nothing has changed. They just bend the rules inside the lines that are allowed and keep on with minor league pro football. Nothing has changed. And they will continue to kick my Irish's @##$ because its college guys vs pros.

It is unconscionable that the NCAA would allow Penn State players to transfer to another school that is also currently being sanctioned. It isn't like they couldn't disallow it if they wanted to, and they are aware of the possibility. So if they don't disallow it, then they are making a decision let it happen. I can't believe they would make that decision.

Someone brought up how it is unfair to the players when the NCAA comes down on their school; What about this guy who would love to transfer from one institution under penalty to another?

Wow. Penn State Nittany Lions RB Silas Redd meets with USC Trojans, sources say - ESPN

USC, which was sanctioned by the NCAA in 2010 over improper benefits, is at its limit of 75 players, so a spot would have to open up for Redd to transfer to the school. USC believes at least one player will be academically ineligible, opening up a spot for Redd. The backup plan would have a walk-on giving up a scholarship.

Can you imagine if we told Chris Salvi, "Remember when we said we'd reward your hard work over the last three years with a scholarship?? Well, it turns out this elite CB wants to transfer to ND. Sorry. Hope you enjoyed your one summer on scholarship."

Not surprised in the least. Kiffin is a snake, always will be. This is on the NCAA though. Why they think it is OK to reward a team under sanctions with the exodus of players from another team under sanctions is down right vomit inducing.

As AC put it, they win.... 100 other things as well. Geo, climate, chicks, city, history, etc., etc.. I hate, but I'm not a hater.

It's like those of us who actually pay attention to politics... we wonder how someone can say the things they do and vote for certain items/agendas...

well, that's because 90% of the country doesn't pay attention and about half of that still votes...

same thing here...

the vast majority of "sports fans" just listen to ESPn once in a blue moon and watch a game here and there...

I have many friends... okay EVERY friend I have that is a 'sports fan' that drop just STUPID comments about cfb regularly... even my one ND buddy.

that's because they barely pay attention, and when they do it's to the wrong simplified sources... (Mainly ESPN)

all they basically know is who wins.... and that's who they root for.

The rabid fans (basically us) who actually even begin to understand what USC and The SEC stand for are few and far between.

How can someone become academically ineligible at USC??

And as to how could anyone root for USC: people root for Tyson, or any other immoral thug. None of that matters to anyone. If anyone paid any attention to the REAL people inhabiting much of professional basketball or football, they'd puke.

The "sport" is the "distant" event wherein they can act like "careless fans" and just have a "please don't bother me with that" crazy hollering time. There's no space for morals or ethics [or any of the larger issues which matter] in the business of sports. Al Davis' motto "Just Win Baby" is WIDELY honored --- it tells you all you need to know.

It's why I love Notre Dame. I at least have a chance of being proud of my team both on the field and off.

No, Mike, I think ACamp is right.

With some it becomes so perceptually limiting, I would have to call it a significant retardation.

I don't know many USC fans, but the two I do, never went there, probably went to much better school, UCSD for example, but they are exceptional human beings, one a doctor. And then when we are drinking one night he (the doctor) tells me the secret to USC's success; women. Starlets, floozies, women of every shape and size. Then he proceeds into a story about how as far back as when John Wayne played on the Trojan line he would go out to parties at the Hollywood mansions. He apparently was a hit. That is just a different mentality than I grew up with.

I have met people from Texas to Maryland and below. The first thing they want to do is criticize the Buckeyes. I say I don't care. Then they want to rip on Ohio highschool football, and I say, "Why?" And they say because it is so bad, and I tell them it sounds like they have a personal problem. It gets so bad a drunk guy at an Iberostar Resort on the Rivera Maya went on and on; I looked at him and told him, he just had one problem, he had leaned too far forward on his stool. After the crash, and mind you this was a grown man who wanted people to take him seriously, I looked down on him and said, "Hold that thought."

I had another friend that when I described the poor education many urban districts provided, that only alowed kids to qualify at their neighborhood state schools, was akin to slavery, one person, anavid LSU fan said, "About time." He is a friend of a friend, so I asked my friend about him, the reply was, that's just the way he is. I nodded; haven't been back over since.

These are some of my experiences. When I look at some of the ND fan stories from the last year, as bad as they are, I always breath a little sigh of relief, too.

I wouldn't base your thoughts on USC fans on two bogs. I was surrounded by them forever, and there are some really, really good people who root for USC and/or went to USC. One of my closest friends is a huge USC fan. A lot of the families of students I taught were USC fans/grads, and those are some awesome people. My aunt knows a couple who gave us 5 tickets to the USCND luncheon before the game at the Coli a couple of years ago, where Swarbrick and Kiffy-boy and BK and Haden, among others, spoke, out of the goodness of their hearts (at least $100 tic apiece). And when they came to South Bend last year, my in-laws offered them their home for a cheap rate, and they paid triple the price anyways. GREAT people. I have a lot of stories like that for USC people I've met/known. So they are out there.

The problem is the thugs that are the fans...the Raider and Dodger bandwagon fans that have permeated that fanbase. As I've discussed multiple times, these guys are the SCum of the earth. Throw in the elitist a-holes, the frat 'bro' boys, and the ridiculous Internet fans (unfortunately, we have our fair share of those as well), and those are the fans you want to strangle. And the problem for decent USC fans is that these clowns override the good people - by a ton.
