Bama would have had 94,000+ in the stadium to watch the turf be installed.

Not to make too much of this but Jack Swarbricks response to Jack Nolans question of "will there be logos on the new field?" was somewhat telling in my opinion. He said "I wouldn't expect to see anything that's significantly different from what, what people think of as our traditional field, although over time we've had a lot of different fields here." Translation . . . Stripes in the end zones and an interlocking blue and gold ND at the 50 yard line.

Just a little quote of mine from back in April after big Jack's press conference. I know others were on board too, but just sayin' . . . Looks great!

And the best part....it'll stay like that all season long!

Yea, I think the consistency of the field throughout the entire season will have a benefit. Players being able to count on what to expect when they step on the field and need to make cuts. I remember Jones last year made the comment on sometimes they didn't know what to expect.

Very true. However, I was just referring to the obvious "look" of the field. It'll be the "most beautiful site these eyes have seen..." all year long and not for just the first couple of weeks.

I have to admit, I'm shocked you were right. I was almost certain there'd be rainbow-colored bunnies in the endzones and a wild gold-painted turf color. Oh well, when in Rome...

The fact that basically only a midfield logo was added really solidifies the thought that the only motivation behind installing field turf was to a) decrease maintenance costs and b) provide our players with the same surface they practice on and the best conditions for playing games.

All the other B.S. that I've seen suggested about our administration and ulterior motives was clearly wrong.

That is actually kind of a cool touch if you know to look.

So is that actually two different colors of green to make those stripes or is the lay of the turf making those stripes?

It's like some kind of conspiracy...did Knute know that 42 degree lines would point to the Dome and just happen to coincide with the founding year of the University? It's the Illuminati!

Some buddy of mine claimed they were going to get on the field to play around this week and kick some field goals when they were coming through on their way to Ann Arbor for that soccer game at the Big House. I asked if the turf was done and he looked like he didn't have any idea they changed it out.

Irritates me b/c he has no connection to the University and I hope he gets snubbed. But that is just me being petty and selfish.

agreed idk how anyone can say that this was a bad decision

You have to admit that in terms of attractiveness they nailed it. I don't really care either way but it's freaking beautiful.

I hate turf but I have to admit it looks really good.
Yeah, it looks good. My *exasperated sigh* GIF was due to rtrn2glory's inability to comprehend "how anyone can say this was a bad decision." Some of us are anti-turf and others are pro-turf, but I think we're beyond the point where we can't "understand how the other side could POSSIBLY think that way." As much as I disagree, I DO understand the reasons why people prefer it. Likewise, I think most of those people understand why some of us wish they kept grass, even if they disagree.
