That's cloud : Check your spell checker!

A spell checker would remain silent since "could" is a perfectly upstanding and acceptable word spelled correctly.

A proofread checker would also be ineffective unless some sort of incredibly complex context checker could (cloud?) be developed.

Why does the Georgia Dome's look so shitty? Is it the brand, particular kind, or what? I've always thought it looked terrible too.

That's what I'm saying. Ours is supposed to be the "latest and greatest" product but the stuff in Atlanta is only three seasons old and it's indoors. Somehow ours is going to be magic and indestructible while the Falcons are cool playing on an eyesore. Our turf looked swell in the photos taken before anyone actually set foot on it, but why wouldn't it be equally shitty looking three years from now?

I don't question how it looks now, I question how it's going to look in two or three years once some actual football has been played on it. The Falcons got a new surface for the 2011 season and it's already garbage, and theirs is indoors.

It's the same stuff Michigan and OSU play on and I've never noticed their fields to look bad.

the indoor fields always look terrible, the Metrodome in Minnesota was the same. I think its the way the lights reflect off it or something

The difference is that Atlanta's looked like that when they bought it. The Georgia Dome turf looks purposefully fake. They don't want it to look like grass so they order grass that's just a bit too green.

If that's the case I think it will look fine because I agree I've never noticed their fields to look bad either. But if it ever looks like that crap in the Georgia Dome whether or not that's indoor turf or the way the lights hit it or whatever that will be very dissappointing. I remember seeing the Bama/LSU championship game in 11' and thinking I can't believe how shitty that field looked. My bad that was the Sugar Bowl either way that field looked like shit too!

No its not. That FieldTurf revolution is new. OSU, WSU installed it this off-season. Arizona, texas, mizz and the Seahawks in the NFL have it.

Well even if it's not like OSU/Mich it's still shouldn't look like the Georgia Dome right?

Ive been meaning to ask since basically first video of redoing the field. I was under the impression all fields had a drainage system, so I expected to see pipes and shit like that. Is there not a system like that in place am I totally envisioning the wrong thing lol. Wheres all the water gonna go from rain?

You know I've wondered the same thing. There has to be a drainage system or the water would just sit on the surface I'm guessing it just wasn't shown in the videos and/or maybe instead of pipes and drains underneath the field, the field itself is built up with a crown in the center with a slight slope towards the outer edges and it drains around the outer edge of the field which could also be a reason it wasn't shown because then maybe the existing drainage system could've been reused? I have know idea just guessing though.

No one has mentioned it, but on the 2nd mich FG attempt, NBC replays clearly showed their kicker's plant foot slipping during the attempt. The kick was low and dinged off someone's facemask.

Brindza used to the turf, other teams not so much. Competitive advantage.

Michigan plays on turf, too. The same stuff I believe. Not a competitive advantage. Remember the Rice game when a bouncing kickoff (punt?) flew right over our returner's head? Competitive disadvantage? No, just the way it is. For both teams.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the turf, but I can't remember a ND team this fast.

Also, Brindza clearly makes this field an advantage. I think this makes 2-3 punts that he uses the weird bounces to get inside the 5 yards line. There is nothing not to like about this new turf.

The dark dirt that kicks up... I'm in awe of it... This is not your daddy's turf...Anyone have a write up of the exact technology at play here?? I mean it looks great and seems to play very well.

Okay, I am not trying to pick on you. Just that logic; pardon me I have heard it a lot lately.

It is a huge advantage for a big fast team not to be mired down on a shiitty field at home.

It is a huge advantage to be able to practice in your stadium as much as you want.

It is a huge advantage to have the field in the same perfect shape the week after a huge rain during a game.

It is a huge advantage in presentation, both the look (beautiful) and the addition to the noise level, for the game time atmosphere.

So far it is all of the above versus, one kickoff that took a funny bounce? Hmmmm!

i work with artificial turf at the college level and also watched this report the other night. as of this morning a group that i'm a member of issued an email in regards to the report. Sports Turf Managers Association has been aware of certain reports and is continuing it's research on it. they actually have a conference coming up next week that i'm attending, might have some information available there on the topic.

now that i remember, a few years ago there was a report linking to high cases of MRSA to artificial turf use. with research though, that report has been proved false

How long until someone blames the new turf for all of the injuries this year?

I'm certainly glad that the plastic has improved the team's performance.

The music has certainly pumped up the crowd.

Just think how sweet life will be with gigantic video screens!

I can't wait for classrooms, student meeting spaces and athletic facilities to surround the field as though a protective and nurturing womb.

Sheesh.
