So you are saying the guy who was on literally no one's radar before maybe a month or two ago and who, by the way, no other program is targeting right now, is someone we should 100% hire?
It's not about whether he would be an upgrade over the current situation, it's about whether or not he would be an upgrade over other potential candidates. He certainly might be the best option but you have to at least interview other guys and see what each has to offer.
Or maybe he is an atheist.
Or maybe he comes unprepared for the interview.
I personally think he would be a good hire but I don't think a guy we know very little about is necessarily a sure thing and one we "should not let leave without a contract."
