You get Van Gorder vibes from Freeman?

No, certainly not. But the crowd and atmosphere, sure. 2016 we were replacing a ton of starters, too, IIRC.

I think we win, and have a strong year. Just listing a couple of reasons why I'm slightly nervous ahead of this one. If it was a neutral site, I'd lay some bucks on the Irish covering easy.

But we did not lose that game because of crowd atmosphere. We did not lose that game because of "new" starters.
We lost that game 100 percent because of BVG.

Freeman/Balis/NewBK are not even in the same realm of comparison to that 2016 ND team.

I get it. And there are some superficial similarities to the '16 opener versus Texas. But as FIL7's post above describes, if you drill down a little, the comparison doesn't really hold up (which is a good thing!)

No, he thinks the Coan/Pyne dual quarterback rotation is what will do them in.

I'm pretty sure this was said in jest, but it would be Coan/Buchner, if anything IMO. Pyne may have been competing for the starting role but they're going to sprinkle in TB12 in some packages.

Fair points. Maybe 85% BVG, 15% BK and the QB situation.

DK had 6 Touchdowns in this game... Yes, it was stupid leading into the game, but the O did more than enough...

It was 100% BVGs loss.

There is enough smoke out there regarding Milton and some sort of injury...fsu reporter said he wasn't going to speak on it... If any media releases injury info etc norvel is cutting access so they're not commenting on it... But there is enough out there.... There's also been reports of him in a walking boot...

Could've been 7 or 8 if you take away the MZ drives?

Not to mention one where Torri Hunter Jr got his head taken off and there was a no call for hit to the head. One of the worst targeting no calls that I’ve ever seen. We drove it down inside the 20 or so,
but I don’t believe we ended up scoring a TD that drive.

Yeah, that was an egregious non-call. I was just glad he got up from that hit

I think anybody expecting Milton to be anything close to his UCF self are fooling themselves.

Doesn't mean he won't be good, but a big part of his game was his ability to run the ball, which has undoubtedly been hindered.

It's a miracle that Milton's career didn't end that day. It's a smaller miracle that he still has his leg altogether.

But it's hard to have that much work done on your leg and expect anything close to the same mobility.

I am a fan of Milton, just not on September 5th. I like this for an opening match up. Our questions on offense should have room to work out kinks while our defense probably does not offer much room for FSU to work out kinks. Much rather get them week one than week 10 when Milton might have found some lightning in a bottle.

This is not good for Milton's health. If he gets the nod and he's not 100%, he will not finish the game against this defense.

From what I have heard, he has nerve damage in his and they are managing it. I am no expert but they are trying to do some load management. Not sure if it is a thing that flares up or not

The 247 noles reporter thinks Milton starts but anticipates that there will be a lot of Travis too. The vibe I'm getting is that Milton has the best arm, but he doesn't have the remaining athletic ability to run for the sticks if necessary. Travis will be their attempt as a change of pace QB if needed.

That could pay off for them, but this feels like disaster on paper.

Notre Dame's front 7 is so fast. We'll see if their OL can give him time.

You can get Notre Dame -.7.5 at +100. I'm not sure what going on with that line.

ND -7.5 looks like a good bet to me. FSU went 3-6 last year with four defenders drafted to the NFL (two 4th round DEs). They gave up a lot of points last year despite four NFL talents on D. If this isn't a route it will be because we tripped over our own johnson.

Short answer is probably nothing. If any money of substance was pushing the line it’d like go to 7 or the bigger, 6.5. Waffling around 7.5, 8, 8.5 I wouldn’t take as a sign money is pushing it either way due to liability. You could get a 7.5 some places and a 9.5 at others still.

Jordan Travis getting a lot of snaps in practice for Free Shoes U. Today was the 2nd or 3rd practice in a row the media didn't mention Milton. Norvell is being pretty tight-lipped right now.

I've seen the term "workload management" used. Still quite a few days away from the game, so maybe nothing to it.
