I laughed when he said it. For those that were offended, get a grip and a sense of humor. This world is never going to be all rainbows, lollipops and unicorns.

He told the truth. There was some piss poor execution at times.

Execute or be executed

i need that shirt made ASAP!!

I e-mailed Matt at Sportscrack.com. Turns out he IS an Irish fan, he was coming back from Tallahassee after attending the game and responded to my e-mail today.
I suggested that quote for a shirt, maybe use this Kelly face in the center lol:

We needed OT to beat a team that just lost to Jacksonville f*cking State.

Oh my god...this season just keeps getting worse.

Yea people should be prepared that we’re just not a great team this year. The injuries have already been brutal, so attrition is just going to make things worse. Right now, I’d probably take 8-4 but realistically think we go 7-5.

I agree, but how did it get this bad? I don't believe this is rebuilding, more like several balls got dropped.

I mean if anyone isn’t ready for us to not be great they must have just woke from being cryogenically frozen for 30 years,….

I’d say our biggest issues are our OL play and a quarterback who is pretty average. You can get away with one or the other but not both.

Then you are watching a different team than me. Our QB play has been stellar outside of a pick 6. Coan has zero time to get rid of the ball.

Our problems are OL and a defense that still looks out of sorts.

I don’t think this is an indication that we’re some sort of a bad team. These are teenagers and young kids who we’re watching play football. Every year we look to games that are a trap for a letdown. This seemed like an obvious choice for one for FSU. Remember that they were on short rest as well.

That doesn’t mean I think we’re going to go undefeated and be a playoff team, but I certainly don’t think it means we’re going to lose every game against a team that has a pulse. I think we’ll have a chance to win most games we play. We’re too talented with players and coaches for that to happen. Just keep getting better and see what happens.

There's a different level of hype when a team plays ND. Look at last week's environment in Tallahassee. I know we went to OT, but we were up 38-20 and really playing at a high level. The moons aligned for FSU in the 4th quarter and Freeman started doing some bullshit. I think the coaches need to stop the square peg in round hole coaching and find a way to put the players in better positions.

Offensively, Coan either needs to keep it some or Rees needs to utilize the backs more in flare patterns. The straight up run game with Jack in will not work right now. Defensively, that 3 man down linemen shit is really a terrible look and we aren't executing. The injuries are preventing the proper implementation of whatever Marcus VanGorderTenuta is attempting, so why not go with what has been working? I was super pumped in the first 2 quarters of the FSU game outside of allowing that long ass TD run due to horrible tackling.

I do love the dirty 'noles losing as much as possible, though, but I still like Norvell.

Coan is fine. He's not winning you any playoff games. 9-3, sure.

O-line and Defense. This defense is not good. The offensive line is terrible before the injuries. This is a coaching problem. The offensive lineman had many many offers. So if they aren’t ready that’s a coaching issue. And other than the defensive line the defense is bad. I never expected the defense to be this bad with the most touted defensive coordinator on the free market available. This is going to be a tough season.

I wouldn't say the defense has been great but I think in both games they've put the offense in position to have the game won before the 4th quarter. Yesterday for example, the defense gave up 9 points through 3 quarters. From the time ND went up 14-6 the defense made Tulane go:
  • Punt - 3 and out
  • FG - after ND's offense couldn't convert a 4th and 1 from the ND 40.
  • Punt - 3 and out
  • Punt - 3 and out
  • Punt - 4 and out
  • Punt - 3 and out
After those six drives, ND's lead actually shrunk to 17-16. That's pathetic. Coan led the team to 18 points on like 11 drives and he threw a pick six.. Yes, the OL sucks but that still is poor, especially against a MAC team.

I think the defense got better from week 1 to week 2. And frankly I think the defense has been good through 6 out of 8 quarters. We just need to figure out how to play defense the same on the fourth quarter and we could win a lot of games.

Agreed on the o line. Coaching and players have to get better ASAP.

I’ve said before but other than our traditional rivals, we bring out the best in our opponents

I think that's just part of being a blue blood. When you're Bama, ND, tOSU, or Oklahoma, EVERYBODY circles you on their calendar. Beating you is a HUGE deal and something to remember forever. It's why so many lesser programs often play way over their heads and have their best game against us. It's just the price you pay for being in that club.

They emptied the entire tank against us. Not to mention we were very physical with them the first three quarters.
Looks like they were going to squeak by, but then a fluke play happened. Not unlike Kyren's fumble.

I told my brother the ultimate measuring stick is how we do against Toledo but then also how FSU does against Jacksonville St.... well here we are.
