I think Bama is a strange case. They are good enough in every other position to win just about every game despite their QB play, or who is behind center. Put Hurts on a team outside the top 10 and I think he struggles mightily. After the Natty performance by Tua, I doubt there were too many hold outs for Hurts (3T/ Bish??). I don't think Hurts is as good as BW either.
What is most interesting to me, is how the WR/TEs respond. I've been saying for over a year, that they are potentially the biggest fall guys of this whole thing. There's been a lot of criticism of both groups, but I'm not sure it's their fault. As a receiver, it's so much easier to get in a rhythm when you trust the guy throwing the ball to deliver it consistently on time, and where it's suppose to be. Several folks have said our WRs don't get separation, but I've seen plenty of open receivers over the course of the last 1.25 years. It's really hard as well for a young WR to learn/grow at practice and in the game when feel you can't rely on your QB to get the rock to you. 50/50 balls are great in certain circumstances, but it should not be your bread and butter.
