Trying to figure out the logistics. Thinking about catching a flight out of Atlanta, staying in Chicago, and taking the metro in. Any advice from anyone?

I assume you mean the South Shore?

You can do this because it's a night game (if you want to take it in on Saturday). The first train out of downtown is at 8:45am and it arrives shortly after 12 in South Bend. It would still give you much of the day to do stuff. Without a car you'll have to take a cab from the airport to campus. Usually it's $15, but it might be more that day. Idk.

You'll also need to catch one back to the airport after the game, assuming there are still trains running. That could be a pain.

Never done it though so it might be a lot more convenient then paying out the ass for a hotel room.

Three words: Bed. And. Breakfast.

I never ever ever stay at a hotel on a game weekend. I stay at a B&B in Elkhart for about $140 per night. Sure beats $500 for the Holiday Inn Express, and way better food in the morning.

In all seriousness, PM me if you want the name of a couple great places in the $140 range.

Considering our academic superiority, would this be revenge of the nerds?

Right you are.

I'm looking for one parking spot for all of that Saturday within a mile of the stadium.

If any of you young whippersnappers have or know anyone who has something available, PM me with price and location.

Thanks!

Get there early and park on Notre Dame Avenue south of campus. It's quite literally free.

I usually drop the $60 and park on the golf course. Excellent for tailgating if you can't get in the Joyce lot.

IrishLion makes a good point, if you're worried about tailgating. I always fly in and rent a car so I never have my own tailgating stuff. I spend most of my time on South Quad and the stadium lot anyways, so parking off campus is never a problem for me.

Where are you going after the game? If you need to get back on 80 West (towards Chicago), then I'd go golf course or Saint Mary's ($30 I think). If you're going east or staying in town, park south of campus and take the back roads over to Mishawaka.

I park at the liquor store next to the Linebacker Bar (pay the guy $30) and then walk over to the tailgates.

I'm curious if ol' Hoke is going to spend part of August preparing for the Irish like he did last year...if he does, he may overlook Appalachian State. It would be interesting if lightning struck twice there.

For anyone still looking for housing, I'd give craigslist a try.

I made a post yesterday asking for housing because I can't afford the going rate with the actual website rentals (I basically said this in the post).

Two people replied within 8 hours, one of which we're taking.

The best deal was two night's stay next to the Linebacker for $100 total. The three girls that live at the house will be staying there during the time, but beggars can't be choosers, lol.

All in all, my tickets and housing costs exactly $400 total. Would be a great deal if I didn't have to double it because of my younger brother. :banghead2

What are the chances College Gameday is in South Bend for this game? Looking at week 2, ESPN will be considering this game, Oregon vs. MSU, and USC vs Stanford.

This being the last ND vs UM game could get College Gameday here. This is assuming both teams are 1-0 of course

I'm guessing they err on the side of USC vs. Stanford since they'd probably rather not drive traffic to FOX or NBC.

IrishPat will be in the house.

So depending on what side of the fence you're on, you can either try to kill him or have a round with him, lol.

I miss Pat. IE isn't quite the same without reading crazy posts in Charlie Kelly's flustered voice.
